I have been hearing from parents more and more right now about how overwhelmed and stressed they are. So here’s your reminder that after everything is said and done, what matters most is the relationship we have with our children.

We can build relationship with them in many ways, but one important principle is to simply delight in your child. You can do that by paying attention to what they’re into in a moment, by playing with them, by laughing with them, by letting them know how much you love them, by doing something with them, by snuggling with them, and on and on. It doesn’t have to be all the time--and of course it’s normal to feel completely exasperated with our kids--but when we find a few minutes most days to truly delight in them and let them feel our delight, it can have a big effect on our kids and our relationships with them.
