To whom this may concerm âŚ. đ
âWhoâ vs Whomâ Which is correct?
đ âWho did you invite?â
đ âWhom did you invite?â
Technically, the correct answer is: âWhom did you invite?â
But hereâs the simple trick almost no one teaches you:
đĄ Replace the word with he or him.
⢠If he fits â use who.
⢠If him fits â use whom.
Example:
âDid you invite him?â âď¸
So it becomes:
âWhom did you invite?â
Another one:
âWho is calling?â
Test it:
âHe is calling.â âď¸ (not âHim is callingâ)
So who is correct.
đ The fun twist:
In everyday English, most people say âWho did you invite?â â and itâs completely accepted in conversation.
So âwhomâ is grammatically correct in this case but slowly disappearing in modern EnglishâŚâŚ. đ
Recently Iâve been thinking about how language training is evolving.
Since COVID, online training has become much more accepted and in many cases, preferred. While some training is moving back to in-person delivery, I still see huge value in online learning.
Learners often appreciate:
⢠The flexibility to fit training around work
⢠More regular opportunities to practise language skills
⢠The ability to access specialist training regardless of location especially when working from home or travelling
⢠A comfortable environment for building speaking confidence
Personally, I really enjoy teaching online and have found it to be a very effective way to support language development.
It will be interesting to see how training continues to evolve over the next few year
USEFUL tip of the day đ
A very common mistake:
Iâm agree with you (wrong)
I agree with you (right)
As âagreeâ is a verb, we do not need the verb âbeâ đđ
Happy learning and have a great day.
