Mother’s Appreciation Day at Vilnius Montessori 💐💛

In Montessori classroom, learning is beautifully practical…

This Practical Life material isolates the skill of tying a bow, helping to refine fine motor control, bilateral coordination, and sequential thinking - all while fostering independence in dressing.

It is part of a thoughtfully prepared environment, where children are offered a variety of dressing frames designed to support real-life skills in a way that is accessible, purposeful, and meaningful to them.

Easter the Montessori way 🐣✨

Now you see it, now you don't.… 🎾

This simple activity is called the object permanence box.

It supports a child’s growing understanding that objects continue to exist even when they are out of sight - a profound cognitive step in early development.

Through repetition, the child builds memory, concentration, and coordination.

What looks like the same motion again and again is, in fact, the beautiful process of discovery. 🌱

Sometimes the most meaningful lessons are the ones life offers unexpectedly. 🌎📖✨

This is what a real learning community looks like.

Montessori mixed-age classrooms are designed to reflect the real world. Older children naturally take on leadership roles, teaching and guiding younger peers while reinforcing their own skills and younger children learn by observing and practicing, gaining confidence and independence at their own pace. 🤝✨

Happy Day of Restoration of the State of Lithuania! 🇱🇹

16 years ago, Vilnius Montessori Preschool opened its doors with a vision rooted in authenticity, respect, and deep trust in the child.

Last Friday, we celebrated that journey in the most meaningful way we know - by learning together.

The evening our parent community gathered for a special Mathematics Workshop also marked our 16th anniversary as a school - making the occasion even more meaningful.

Led by our Academic Director, Miss de Silva, whose decades of Montessori experience connect us directly to the source of this philosophy, families explored once again how Montessori mathematics builds true understanding - concrete, logical, and joyful.

Workshops and community events have always been part of who we are. But this one carried something extra.

It was not only a continuation of our math journey - it was a celebration of 16 years of Vilnius Montessori Preschool, and of the beautiful community that continues to shape it year after year. ♥️

There's no such thing as "bad weather" in a Montessori environment - only different opportunities for discovery! 🧤☃️

This perspective is essential because there is a sacred quality to the way a child interacts with a winter landscape. 😊 They see the world not as "cold" or "difficult," but as a fresh, white canvas for discovery.

It is through this lens of wonder that we follow the guidance of Dr. Montessori, who reminded us that: “There must be provision for the child to have contact with nature; to understand and appreciate the order, the harmony and the beauty in nature.”

Whether they are watching their breath turn to mist or feeling the unique weight of a snowball, they are in a deep, sensory dialogue with the Earth. Our role is to protect this communion. We step back, providing a watchful but silent presence, so the child can listen to what the winter has to teach. ❄️
