The report “Makerspaces for Education and Training: Exploring future implications for Europe” explores the long term potential that makerspaces and making activities can bring to education and training in Europe.📋 🇪🇺 Moreover, two “Hei makers” project partners participated in the workshop which brought together 3️⃣5️⃣ makerspace experts and practitioners from 16 European countries and shared their knowledge and experience. 💬🤝 This workshop helped to gauge and understand the possible evolution of the trends and drivers of change in the area of makerspaces and maker programs in Europe. Yesterday “Hei makers” project partners met to discuss makers movement, its impact on higher education and share own experiences. 💬🤝 While the community seems to be the key force behind a successful maker space, systemic change is needed to make it a common practice in higher education.

Largest makerspace opens at University of Queensland 23/10/2019

The University of Queensland opened Australia’s🇦🇺 largest university makerspace -“UQ Innovate”!👏 This space is for students, academics, and researchers to use machines such as 3D printers, vacuum formers, industrial robots, and waterjet cutters.🎓 The spaces such as “UQ Innovate” allow students to gain direct experience of how products and solutions are designed, beyond the classroom.🤩

What an interesting students project!🤔 University of Hong Kong students invented a self-sanitizing door handle, that uses light to constantly sterilize itself.💡💦 The designers' newly developed germ-killing design destroyed around 99.8 percent of microbes during lab tests!👏 The self-sanitizing door handle was one of the winning entries in the 2019 James Dyson Awards, which recognizes the best in student design and engineering around the world!🌍
