BOT Chair Chief Dr. Towah Redeems Pledge
The ongoing $1 million Education Fund drive of the Grand Gedeh University got a major boost yesterday, Thursday, May 7, 2026 when the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the institution, Chief Dr. William Deiyan Towah, Sr made good his pledge of LD50,000.00 by redeeming it, sending a strong message that he is committed to contributing to the upliftment of GGU.
The retired seasoned diplomat had opted for the payment to have been unannounced but he obliged to cave in for the public acknowledgement as it will spur others who made pledges to redeem theirs as well as those who could not be at the launch to know that the contribution is an ongoing drive until April 5, 2026.
“We prefer to remain silent in these commitments because it is our sworn obligation to ensure that the best is rendered our people in whatever endeavors, especially when it comes to human capital development of our people and county. So, if the publicity will do good to the cause of the fund drive, you are at liberty to do so”, Dr. Towah told the Steering Committee late last night.
We commend Dr. Towah and every other individual and institutions that have been supportive of this worthy initiative and urge others to emulate their good examples.
I got over 10 reactions on one of my posts last week! Thanks everyone for your support! 🎉
The Rise of Grand Gedeh University:
A Short Poem
By: Elijah Komontey Gbarweay
From years of hope, through trials and pain,
Through voices raised in sun and rain,
A dream once carried by the few
Now stands in strength—proud, bold, and new.
Grand Gedeh University was born through struggle long,
Through advocacy, faith, and song;
A vision shaped by hearts that knew
That education builds anew.
Upon the soil of Grand Gedeh County it stands,
A torch of hope in youthful hands;
To shape young minds, to skills impart,
And plant ambition in each heart.
Its coming marks a brighter day,
A turning point, a clearer way—
Where human capital shall rise,
And dreams take flight beneath our skies.

LPRC to Commence Student Center Project.
After the historic ground breaking ceremony for the construction of a modern student center at the Grand Gedeh University by the dynamic and people-center Vice President, Honorable Jeremiah Kpan Koung, the project got a major boost over the weekend when a powerful assessment delegation from the Liberia Petroleum Refining Corporation (LPRC) led by its Deputy Managing Director for Operations , Honorable Eric Ceekay Sayee visited the campus to formalize arrangement for the IMMEDIATE commencement of the actual construction work.
Receiving the team, GGU President, Eric ZM Gbotoe, PhD expressed excitement for the visit and praised VP Koung for standing by his words to ensure that the project comes to fruition. He said when the initiative is completed, it will positively impact the infrastructure ecosystem of the trending institution.
For his part, Honorable Sayee thanked the GGU family especially the students who were thoughtful enough to conceive the project and presented it to the Vice President for ex*****on. He said LPRC is undertaking the project under its Corporate Social Responsibility initiative, something he said, aligns with the ARREST AGENDA of the President Joseph Nyuma Boakai led administration.
Sayee also expressed regret for not being present during the Launching of the University and its $1m Education Endowment Fund Drive held at the Monrovia City Hall on Monday, April 6, 2026. He however pledged the amount of USD1,000.00 to be picked up tomorrow, Tuesday, April 21, 2026 at his office.
