PRESS RELEASE
Date: August 7, 2025
Subject:Gbi-Doru National Students Union Joins National Campaign to Say No to Drugs
Today, August 7, 2025, marks a pivotal moment in Liberia’s collective stand against the devastating impact of drug abuse. Citizens across the nation have united to petition the Government of Liberia to take bold and coordinated action in the fight against drugs.
The Gbi-Doru National Students Union (GBIDONSU), representing the voices of young scholars and future leaders, proudly joins this national movement.
Drug abuse continues to erode the dreams and potential of Liberia’s youth.
It threatens education, public health, and national development. As an organization rooted in academic advancement and youth empowerment, GBIDONSU recognizes the urgency of this crisis and the need for immediate, sustained intervention.
The theme for today’s campaign“Say No to Drugs”—resonates deeply with our mission. We echo the powerful message:
This campaign is not just a slogan—it is a call to action. It is a declaration that our future must not be sacrificed to addiction, neglect, or silence.
The Gbi-Doru National Students Union calls on the Government of Liberia to:
- Strengthen enforcement of anti-drug laws and policies
- Increase public awareness through education and outreach
- Support rehabilitation programs for affected individuals
- Collaborate with student and youth organizations to promote drug-free communities
We believe that education is the most powerful weapon against ignorance and addiction.
Our students are determined to pursue their academic goals and contribute meaningfully to national progress. But this can only be achieved in an environment free from the influence of harmful substances.
Today, we stand with every Liberi
