Founded on September 1, 2002, Light Mennonite School emerged from a vision of hope and transformation during one of Liberia’s most challenging periods.

In the years following the 1997 elections, countless children and young people were left without access to education as families struggled with poverty, unemployment, and limited educational opportunities. Deeply moved by this reality, dedicated members of the Light Mennonite Church united with a shared mission — to restore hope through learning.

Driven by faith, compassion, sacrifice, and community commitment, the vision of Liberia Mennonite School was born.

What began as a response to national hardship has grown into a respected institution committed to academic excellence, discipline, leadership development, and community transformation. Today, LMS proudly stands as a symbol of resilience, faith, and quality education in Liberia.

As we continue this journey, our commitment remains unwavering: empowering young minds, nurturing future leaders, and contributing to a brighter future for Liberia — one student at a time.

Celebrating Excellence: Gala Week Awards & Thanksgiving Service 2026.

After a joyful and successful Gala Week, we brought everything to a beautiful close with a special awards and certificate presentation during our chapel service on Friday, March 27, 2026.

🏆 Awards were presented to:
The winning class of the Spelling Bee Competition(Grade-4)
The champion of the Quizzing Competition(Grade-9),and
Outstanding students who demonstrated excellence and brilliance throughout the events.

We return all glory to God Almighty for granting us a peaceful, successful, and memorable celebration.

We kicked off our Gala Day celebration with an exciting and engaging Spelling Bee Competition! 📚

It was a fantastic display of intelligence, confidence, and excellent spelling skills from our students. After a competitive session, Grade -4 class proudly emerged as the winners of the first segment of the celebration! 🏆👏

We are incredibly proud of all participants for their effort and enthusiasm.

Our Principal’s List awardees have demonstrated exceptional commitment and top-tier performance, setting a remarkable standard for their peers. This is to officially inform you that Light Mennonite School closed on Thursday, January 23, 2026, and will reopen for the second semester in February 2026. Classes will resume on Monday, February 2, 2026.”
