The Struggle Continues: A Farewell to Marty Varney Alieu Jarsey
On the 17th of March, 1883, Fredrick Engels, a long standing companion of Karl Marx delivered these piercing words at the gravesite of his fallen Comrade: On the 14th of March, at a quarter to three in the afternoon, the greatest living thinker ceased to think .

The Pan-African Leadership School regrets to announce the death of its vision bearer and guiding pillar, Cde. Varney Jarsey, the late President of the All-Africa Student’s Union. President Jarsey was an incredible figure of Pan-Africanism and a restless soldier to humanity whose vision was to spread wide and far across Africa and the rest of the world the teachings and doctrines of Pan-Africanism. He had no second consideration on this vision.
President Jarsey displayed a commitment and dedication for a progressive Africa beyond quantification. Like our most venerated African revolutionary icons, President Jarsey was always prepared and ready to sacrifice and invest anything or whatever as long it involves the general good of the African continent and humanity. He was a man who lived in this generation, but his true deserving generation was the generation of Nkrumah, Lumumba, and other revered icons. As it is mentioned in the pages of history that revolutionaries never die, President Jarsey shall live in our hearts, thoughts, ideas, and struggle for a better and progressive Africa.
We extend our hearty condolences to the people of Africa and the world at large for this loss!!

Yesterday, August 14, 2025, the Pan African Leadership School (PALS), under the auspices of the Office of the President, All-Africa Student's Union, honored the invitation of H.E. Yin Chengwu, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to the Republic of Liberia, at a special movie reception organized by the Chinese Embassy near Monrovia in commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.
The event was held on the 3rd floor, TM MALL, United Nations Drive, Monrovia, and featured the screening of "The Sinking of the Lisbon Maru," a historical film that explains one of the tragic and unpopular happenings during the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression of World War II. The movie tells the story of over 1,800 British prisoners of war who were being transported by the Japanese on the "Lisbon Maru" when it was sunk. The movie further depicts the revolutionary courage and resilience of the Chinese fishermen who went on to rescue the survivors of the wreckage in the face of reactionary maneuvering.
The Office of the President, All-Africa Students Union, expresses its sincerest gratitude and fraternal solidarity to Amb. Chengwu and the Chinese Embassy for the continued support and partnership. Long live Liberia and China's friendship.

A bracing excitement for the Pan-African Leadership School under the presidential supervision of the president of the All-Africa Student’s Union, Cde. Varney Jarsey. Through the presidential office of the All-Africa Student’s Union, the Pan-African Leadership School sent a member of its first leadership cohort to represent the school at the 5th China-Africa Future Leaders Dialogue symposium on green energy development, a remarkable symposium that gathered young leaders across Africa with the prime objective of transforming young people from passive observers into active champions of environmental cooperation between China and Africa. The representation of the Pan-African Leadership School in this prestigious event showcased the growing potential of the institution and its commitment to nurturing young leaders who can drive sustainable development in Africa. By earning a space on the table to participate on environmental energy discussion, we believe our institution is not only gaining valuable insights but also contributing to shaping the future of green energy and development in Africa, aligning with our institution mission to empower leaders for a better tomorrow.
This milestone brings immense pride to the Pan-African Leadership School, highlighting its growing influence and recognition on the global stage. Our representative at the symposium, Madam Oumu Sall, used the occasion to underscore the school's dedication to fostering international collaboration and knowledge sharing and widely network on behalf of the institution. The experience and network gained from this event will undoubtedly enrich the school's leadership training programs, allowing it to provide even more impactful and progressive-thinking education to its would be students. The school is proud of Madam Oumu Sall, a member of cohort one of the Pan-African Leadership School for the participantion. We encourage the public to keep taking advantage of the application process of cohort two of the school as we are still receiving application. We share below photos of our participant at the symposium

June 16, 2025
June 16th of every year is an opportunity to reflect on the courage and sacrifices of the resilient men and comrades of the "Soweto Uprising" who stood firm without any modicum of fear to challenge the atrocities and horrors of ruthless apartheid.
These courageous students threw themselves selflessly in the vanguard to rescue the
educational systems of their patrimony, being cognizant that the most powerful tool in the
hands of the oppressors are the minds of the oppressed. With every fiber of their existence, those young and resilient comrades of June 16, 1976, were not willing to accept consistent oppression endured by the forefathers and fathers. Hence, they activated the spirit of resistance to oppose the Bantu education degree of the apartheid regime.
With no iota of condemnation of the bravery of the generation of June 16, 1976, AASU
remembers revered Pan-African icons like Sam Nzima, Robert Sobukwe, Abrahim Tiro, Strini
Moodley, Steve Biko, Tebho Tsehti Mashinini, Mbuyisa Makhubo, Solomon Kalushi
Maglangu and others, greatly influenced by the Soweto Uprising generation of Hector Peterson.
As the people of Africa and progressive forces celebrate June 16th, the "Day of the African
Child," AASU frowns on the willful abandonment of the true essence of this historical day by African governments. All around Africa, African children continue to bear the brutes of injustice and deprivation of their fundamental rights due to vices such as corruption, bad governance, and colonial and neocolonial educational systems.
AASU therefore cautions the Government of Liberia and all African governments to take the bold steps in ensuring the rights and dignities of the African child as ascribed in national and international conventions and protocols are upheld.
