He will be facilitating: "Citation & Referencing in Theses and Research Papers" at the Inter-University Research Accelerator.

About Our Trainer
Vt. Wantee is a Gender Studies graduate with experience in research, teaching assistance, and community engagement.
He is skilled in qualitative and quantitative research, policy analysis, stakeholder engagement, and report writing.
With a proven ability to support gender-responsive initiatives, conduct field research, and contribute to academic and community development programs, he brings both expertise and practical experience to the classroom.
Vet. Wantee has strong organizational, communication, and data analysis skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and has published two research papers in two international journals.

In this session, he will guide participants through:

📊 IGRS | GENDER ISSUE OF THE DAY

GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE: WHEN GENDER BECOMES A RISK FACTOR

Gender-based violence is not simply a private or family matter. It is a public health, human rights, development, and gender-equality issue.

According to the latest WHO estimates, nearly 1 in 3 women—about 840 million women and girls globally—have experienced physical and/or sexual violence by an intimate partner or non-partner at least once in their lifetime. �

But here is the bigger question:
What happens when violence is underreported, poorly measured, or excluded from decision-making?

We lose more than numbers.

We lose evidence needed to
understand who is affected, where the risks are highest, why violence occurs, and what interventions actually work.

This is where research and statistics matter.

🔹 Research helps us identify the causes, patterns, risk factors, and consequences of GBV.

🔹 Statistics help us measure its magnitude and identify inequalities across age, location, socioeconomic status, and other factors.

🔹 Evidence helps policymakers design targeted prevention and response strategies.

🔹 Monitoring and evaluation help determine whether those strategies are actually reducing violence.
The challenge is not only to count cases.

The challenge is to ensure that every meaningful number tells us something that can inform action.
