Happy Unification Day to all Liberians.
On this important occasion, we join the nation in reflecting on the value of unity, peace, and shared progress. True national strength comes when people stand together beyond differences to build a better future for all.
From everyone at 3star Aviation Training Academy, we extend warm wishes for continued harmony, development, and national cohesion across Liberia.
May this day remind us that unity is not just a history, but a responsibility we carry forward every day.

BOTH PILOTS ASLEEP… AT 35,000 FEET
A UK survey found that over 40% of pilots admitted to falling asleep in the cockpit.
And more concerning…
Around one-third of those cases involved both pilots asleep at the same time.
Sounds alarming — but here’s the full picture.
Long-haul operations are tightly controlled:
• Cruise phase is highly automated (autopilot + flight management systems)
• Pilots operate under strict fatigue management rules
• Many flights include controlled rest periods in the cockpit
Key safeguards in place:
• Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) require one pilot to remain alert
• Regular radio check-ins with ATC
• Audible alerts if parameters deviate
• Relief crews on ultra long-haul flights
So why does it still happen?
• Irregular schedules and circadian disruption
• Long duty periods across time zones
• Human fatigue — even in highly regulated environments
And here’s the reality aviation doesn’t hide:
Fatigue is a known risk.
That’s why it’s actively managed, monitored, and mitigated.
Because modern aviation doesn’t assume humans won’t get tired…
It builds systems to catch it when they do.
