The first two Political Parties to have contested in Liberian elections are:
1. The Pro Administration Party (True Liberian Party)- Joseph Jenkins Roberts
And
2. The Anti Administration Party (Whig Party)- Samuel Benedict.
The election was conducted in 1847 and it's the election that brought in Governor Joseph Jenkins Roberts as the First president of the Republic of Liberia.
