"𝗜 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝟮 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗞𝗲𝘆𝗯𝗼𝗮𝗿𝗱. 𝗜 𝗔𝗹𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗤𝘂𝗶𝘁."

I used to sit at my keyboard for hours, watching YouTube tutorials, copying finger positions, memorizing songs key-by-key.

I could play. But I didn't understand 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 I was playing.

Someone would ask,
👉 "𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙠𝙚𝙮 𝙞𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙨𝙤𝙣𝙜 𝙞𝙣?" — my answer would be a blank stare.

👉 "Can you play a ( 𝙞𝙞-𝙑-𝙄 ) progression?" — I'd freeze.

👉 "Why does that chord resolve the way it does?" — I had no idea.

I was playing piano like someone reciting a poem in a language they didn't speak.

Every new song meant hunting for the right notes all over again. Every time I tried to play by ear, I got lost.

And slowly, the frustration built into something worse — I started to believe I just wasn't "musical enough."

I could look at sheet music and actually read it, not decode it. I could hear a chord progression and know what came next. I could sit at any keyboard, anywhere, and make sense of it instantly.
