Frontline School of Journalism Commends International Training Opportunity for Coordinator Abraham Howison Woah

The Liberia Frontline School of Journalism has congratulated its Coordinator, AbrahamTaries Howison Woah, on his selection to participate in a five-week professional journalism training program in Abuja, Nigeria.

The school views the opportunity as a significant milestone not only for Mr. Woah but also for the advancement of journalism education and media professionalism in Liberia.

As a journalism training institution committed to providing tuition-free journalism education to young people in Margibi County, the Liberia Frontline School of Journalism believes that continuous professional development is essential to producing ethical, innovative, and impactful journalists.

The institution says Mr. Woah's participation along with others in the regional program will strengthen the school's capacity to deliver modern journalism training, particularly in digital media, broadcast production, content creation, artificial intelligence for communications, and other emerging media skills.

The Liberia Frontline School of Journalism also acknowledges the efforts of Senate President Pro-Tempore Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence in supporting capacity-building opportunities for Liberian journalists.
We also thank the President of Press Union-of Liberia for the opportunity as well.

LFSJ Hosts Inspiring Guest Lecture with Gambian Journalist Sang Mendy

The Liberia Frontline School of Journalism (LFSJ) has successfully held a guest lecture session for its trainees, facilitated by renowned Gambian journalist Sang Mendy, Lead Gambia Correspondent of West African Democracy Radio in Dakar, Senegal.

During the session, Mr. Mendy lectured on Broadcast Journalism, describing it as the art of telling stories. He emphasized that broadcast stories must be clear, simple, short, and able to paint pictures in the ears of listeners.

He told trainees that good broadcast journalism is rooted in fact-checking, correct pronunciation, careful listening, and accuracy. He also spoke on the core values of journalism, highlighting fairness, balance, ethics, and responsibility to the public as key duties of every broadcast journalist.

Mr. Mendy cautioned the trainees against sensationalism and partiality, urging them to practice daily reading, careful listening, simple writing, and the use of clear and simple language. He strongly encouraged them not to broadcast or write any information they have not confirmed.

The participating students expressed deep appreciation to Mr. Mendy for the guest lecture, describing the session as rewarding, impactful, and highly educational.

Speaking on behalf of the administration, Founder and Executive Director of LFSJ, Abraham Parker, thanked Sang Mendy for accepting the invitation to share his professional knowledge with student journalists.

He expressed hope of building future partnerships with Mr. Mendy and other Gambian journalists to promote experience-sharing and journalism education in Liberia.

At the close of the session, three students were awarded certificates in recognition of their academic excellence. They are Emmanuel Lloyd, with a GPA of 3.6 from the Public Speaking Department; Abraham Toungar, who earned a 3.75 GPA and Timothy B. Maye, with a 3.4 GPA from the Level 1 Journalism Department.

The Liberia Frontline School of Journalism is a registered institution under the Ministry of Education (TVET Section) and is accredited to offer Diploma and Certificate programs in Journalism and Public Speaking.

Meanwhile, the institution has begun registration for new students for its February Semester and is currently running a tuition-free program.
