Ministry of Education Launches Nationwide Distribution of Hygiene Kits to Students

The Ministry of Education has launched the nationwide distribution of hygiene kits to more than 9,000 students in selected public, private, and inclusive schools across Liberia’s 16 educational counties.

Led by Assistant Minister for Student Personnel Services, Hon. Sona T. Sesay, the initiative forms part of the Ministry’s efforts to promote student well-being, improve school attendance, and support retention and completion, particularly for girls.

Each hygiene kit contains essential personal care items, including deodorant, body spray, a comb, a toothbrush, toothpaste, and sanitary pads for girls, helping students attend school with greater confidence, dignity, and readiness to learn.

The initiative also helps ease the financial burden on families while supporting safe, healthy, and inclusive learning environments where every learner has the opportunity to succeed.

Implemented under the Ministry’s priorities for Girls and Inclusive Education and Instructional and School Supplies, the initiative reflects the Government of Liberia’s continued commitment to removing barriers that prevent children from accessing and completing quality education.

Today, Foya Central High School represented Foya in the Voices of Liberia's Debate Competition in Voinjama City. Schools in Voinjama were proudly representing their district. In a heated competition that lasted for almost five hours, Foya Central High School eliminated Voinjama Public School and later whipped Voinjama Multilateral High School. This gave Foya Central High School the right to be announced as winner, and they will represent Lofa in the nation's capital.

As a way of paying homage to veteran intellectuals, debaters reached on the Lofa County University, a home of conscious people. There, lecturers and students from Foya joined to celebrate the historical win.

On June 30, 2026, the debate team of Foya Central High School visited the city mayor of Foya District at the Lofa county university.

He give an appreciation to the Foya central high school debate team for their efforts to wines the preliminary stage of Voices Liberia debate competition.

He saids " I'm proud of you guys
for herring such a good news, I'm so much delighted to see my District qualifying to go at the national level for education purposes , it is not the first time but I'm so glad to see history repeating itself".

He also give an flashback about the debate competition that was conducted in Voinjama 6 month ago by Youth of change, Foya central high school won the the the preliminary stage.

Doing his appreciation speech he give the team 1000 LD to add it on their transportation fees to go back in Foya.

He also asked the stakeholders to support the team as they will be going in September to go represent the county at the National level.
