Thank you for the spotlight and this recognition Destiny Online Television. I am truly humbled and grateful. What began simply as a way to stay busy after high school, teaching adults in the New Matadi market at Don Bosco Youth Center, and finding something meaningful to do; has grown into a passion and a purpose.
Today, I have the privilege of teaching, inspiring, and helping to shape the leaders of today and tomorrow. What started as something to do has become a journey I deeply cherish. Thank you for recognizing the work and the passion behind it. ❤️
Meet our Mentor and Teacher.
Ms.Sydell Poyoe Goll is a Liberian educator, education leader, program designer, and community development advocate with more than 15 years of experience in education, teacher development, youth programming, institutional capacity building, and community engagement. She currently serves as Director of the Center for Teaching, Learning and Innovation (CTLI) at the University of Liberia College of Health Sciences (ULCHS), where she leads initiatives focused on strengthening teaching and learning, faculty development, mentorship, educational innovation, and professional development. Her work includes designing and implementing training programs that equip university faculty and other educators with practical instructional, assessment, mentorship, and leadership skills.
Sydell’s career has taken her from grassroots education to national-level programming. She has worked as an Adult Literacy Instructor, served with Save the Children, and held leadership responsibilities within Liberia’s Civil Service Agency. Her work has reached communities across 14 counties of Liberia, including initiatives supporting emergency education, teacher training, education systems strengthening, youth development, and access to learning opportunities. She is particularly passionate about creating educational opportunities for children and young people. She has played a key role in Camp xSEL, a national science enrichment initiative that exposes high school students from across Liberia to science, mathematics, health careers, laboratory experiences, leadership, and personal development.
Her commitment to literacy and community education also inspired her to open the Bright Minds Reading Club, a community-based literacy initiative established to help children develop strong reading skills and discover the joy of learning. Through reading, phonics, storytelling, STEM activities, creative arts, debates, spelling bees, critical-thinking activities, and life-skills development, Bright Minds provides children with opportunities to grow academically and personally.
Sydell holds a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership and Policy, with a focus on Comparative Education, from Beijing Normal University in China, and a Master of Science in Public Planning for Sustainable Development from Örebro University in Sweden. She also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Demography from the University of Liberia.
Her additional professional training includes Project Management in Global Health from the University of Washington and Public Management through the Mandela Washington Fellowship at Bridgewater State University, USA. Her professional journey reflects a commitment to lifelong learning, educational leadership, innovation, service, and creating opportunities for others to succeed.
