Democracy Reinvention is Required for Liberia's development

IDAD Democracy Fellowship will on tomorrow, April 11, 2024 have Mr. Joseph Cheayan, the Executive Director of the Institute for Democratic Action and Development (IDAD) facilitating our session on the Module, "Understanding the Legislature."

Mr. Cheayan comes with worth of experience in the workings of the Legislature and will be an asset to our program.

It was an honor today to have Mr. Abdullah Kiatamba, an astute Advocate and Political Pundit facilitating at our IDAD Democracy Fellowship.

Mr. Kiatamba taught on how to hardness passion into living realties amidst limited resources. He also shared thoughts on Legislative Engagement and Legislative lobbying.

Fellows had the opportunity to ask questions and also share their passion with their colleagues.

In closing, Mr. Kiatamba praised IDAD for the great initiative of bringing young people together to learn Democracy issues. He vowed to work with the Democracy Fellowship to ensure it reaches the length and breadth of the country.

The IDAD kick-start the first of two sessions for Cohort One of her Democracy Fellowship for emerging leaders who are tackling issues surrounding Democracy, The Rule of Law, Good Governance, and Access to Justice in their communities, schools, etc. The class today was centered on the basic concept of Democracy (Direct and Representative), which highlighted the characteristics and features of Democracy.

The First Session that is comprised of Fifteen (15) young people from all works of life was held at the offices of the institution. The Second will be held tomorrow from 11:am to 1:00pm bringing together Ten (10) Fellows.

The program will be held for three months in which, Fellows will go for sight-seeing, field trip as well as internship to some of the leading institutions in the country.

When completed, Fellows will graduate and be given a Certificate of Completion.
