Office of the Asst. Minister for Student Personnel Services

The Ministry of Education through the Bureau of Student Personnel Services and the Liberia Football Association (LFA) Donated Footballs to several High Schools intended for the Inter High Schools Sport Competition.

The Bureau is responsible amongst other things to ensure the implementation of Extracurricular activities inclusive of sports as enshrined in the New Education Act. The Assistant Minister (Hon. Tarnue Marwolo Bongolee) appluaded LFA for the gesture.

The Assistant Minister for Student Personnel Services, now Acting Deputy Minister for Instruction (Honorable Tarnue Marwolo Bongolee) of the Ministry of Education today joined score of educational stakeholders at the official launch of the Stimulus Package for Private Schools Teachers.

Excerpt from his welcome Remarks:

It is my pleasure to extend my profound greeting to all of you and use this time to officially welcome you for and on behalf of the Ministry of Education team. As I welcome you, let me inform you that the Ministry of Education under the astute stewardship of Prof. D. Ansu Sonii and his able lieutenants (Deputy Ministers, Assistant Ministers and all Directors inclusive of our hardworking staffs) appreciate your efforts and selfless contributions towards the enhancement of our educational sector. Private schools teachers are the complementary arm in the ex*****on of MOE instructional mandate; and as it is popularly said a person who responds to their friends when they are in crisis, that person is truly indeed your good friend. As you all are aware, COVID-19 is a crisis (an unseen enemy) being fought by seen force. The government of Liberia; headed by H.E Amb. Dr. George M. Weah found it prudent to identify with you as our corresponding partners in driving the effort to improving our already challenged educational sector.

The Assistant Minister for Student Personnel Services (Hon. Tarnue Marwolo Bongolee) attended Mary's Meal and the Ministry of Education (Bureau of Student Personnel Services) official annual joint Meeting in Bomi county. Excerpt from the meeting: understanding MOU between Mary's Meal and schools, presentation of MOE Directorate of School Feeding as well as outlining the challenges facing Mary's Meal. Hon Bongolee lauded Mary's Meal for their support to Liberia school feeding program.

Today, the Assistant Minister for Student Personnel Services (Hon. Tarnue Marwolo Bongolee) at the Ministry of Education coordinated a lunch meeting with the students that excellently performed in the 2020 WASSCE at Terra Cotta restaurant in Congo Town. In attendance are the Minister (Prof. Sonii), Deputy for Administration (Hon Da-Thong) and Deputy for Instruction (Hon. Alexander Duopu).

Assistant Minister for Student Personnel Services at the Ministry of Education (Hon Tarnue Marwolo Bongolee) honored the invitation of iEARN and make special remark at the launch of the Collaborative Project Base Learning workshop intended to provide full training in citizen journalism, digital storytelling, digital thinking, and creative thinking to young Liberians who benefited from the U.S. government-sponsored student exchange program, the Kennedy Lugar Youth Exchange and Study Program. "As I am deeply honor, kindly permit me to officially congratulate you the young people, the beneficiaries for been selected amongst the scores of talented and brilliant young members of Liberia growing intelligentsia class; you were not selected by mistake but rather a thorough vetting, and let appreciate the U.S government for their support in building the minds of the next generation of Liberian leaders". TOP (25) PERFORMING STUDENTS OF WASSCE 2020 SELECTED TO STUDY OVERSEAS

Today, the honorable Minister of Education, Prof. Ansu D. Sonii, Sr along with his Principle Deputy Minister, Latim Dathong, the Assistant Minister of Student Personnel Services, Mr. Tarnue M. Bongolee and the Director of Scholarship graced the presence of the top twenty-five (25) students who achieved the highest scores in the West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examinations (WASSCE) 2020.

In keeping up with the celebration and furtherance of academic excellence initiated three years ago by the Government of Liberia, the Ministry of Education organized a *honoring* meeting for the 25 toppers in regards to recognition of their hard work and excellent academic performances.

As Government persists on its commitment to empowering the next generation of excellent students, all 25 students have officially been awarded international scholarships to study abroad and complete undergraduate degree beginning next academic year (March 2021). The Ministry commits that transparency and uprightness remains a paramount component of this process; hence, awarding scholarships only to deserving students based on academic excellence. Accordingly, the scholarship awardees were selected based on records provided by WAEC Liberia, confirmed by the Ministry of Education.

The Ministry extends sincere congratulations to all scholarship awardees and a generous congratulations to all students who sat the WASSC Examinations 2020 for their improved performances.

The Division of School Health, Bureau of Student Personnel Service (MOE) officially celebrated Global Handwashing Days in several Selected Schools in Montserrado. The activity was sponsored by UNICEF.

The Assistant Minister for Student Personnel Services (Hon. Tarnue Marwolo Bongolee) alongside with Professor D. Ansu Sonii (Minister) and Deputy Minister Dominic hosted the finalists of the Liberia National Debate Competition organized by Youth for Change Inc.

BILATERAL SCHOLARSHIP STUDENTS BEGIN RECEIVING THREE MONTHS ALLOWANCES AS OF MONDAY, NOVEMBER 16, 2020

{Monrovia, Liberia - November 11, 2020} As part of the Government of Liberia constant commitment to strengthening the bilateral scholarship program across the world, the Government through the Ministry of Education has confirmed the disbursement of three months allowances to all bilateral scholarship students currently studying in the People Republic of China, Morocco, United States of America and India.
This clarifies that all bilateral scholarship students will start receiving appropriate stipends beginning Monday, November 16, 2020.

Speaking during the payment confirmation meeting with the president of the International Students Parent Association (Feldstain S. Tiawan), Director of Scholarships (Mr. Theophilus Snorton) and the Deputy Minister of Education for Administration, (Hon. Latim Da-thong II), the Minister of Education Prof. D. Ansu Sonii Sr. appreciated the continuous support by H.E Dr. George Manneh Weah (President, Republic of Liberia) to the educational sector of Liberia over the years.
The Minister in his speech also encouraged students to remain focus on their studies as it will motivate the government and international partners to continue doing everything possible to sustain the bilateral scholarship program.

Meanwhile, The Minister also thanked the People Republic of China, United States of America, Morocco and India for their ceaseless cooperation and commitment to the bilateral scholarship program.

Hon Tarnue Marwolo Bongolee, Assistant Minister of the Bureau of Student Personnel Services/MOE, held a fruitful discussion with the founder of Youth for Change Inc. (Alex Devine) about the activities (debate and Quizzing) of YOC relative to students. The Bureau of SPS/MOE is responsible to ensure that extracurricular activities of which YOC is engaged with are held in Liberian schools.

The Assistant Minister (SPS/MOE), Hon. Tarnue Marwolo Bongolee along with the Deputy Minister for Instruction (Hon. Duopo) met with the Liberia Football Association (Academical Committee) on the way forward regarding the resumption of University/college leagues.
