Inauguration Ceremony – Master of Information Technology (MIT) 2025 Intake

The Faculty of Graduate Studies, Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka, successfully conducted the Inauguration Ceremony of the Master of Information Technology – 2025 Intake on 1st March 2026 as an online event.

The ceremony was graced by Prof. Athula Gnanapala, Acting Vice Chancellor of Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka, as the Chief Guest, and Senior Prof. Ruwan Gopura, Dean, Faculty of Graduate Studies, University of Moratuwa, as the Guest of Honour.

The event also featured a keynote address by Mr. Anil Pradeep Kumara, Head of AI & Data and General Manager – Research & Development at Sri Lanka Telecom PLC, on the topic “Agentic AI in Telecom and Academia Role.”

The event brought together distinguished academics, industry experts, and new postgraduate students, marking the beginning of their academic journey in advanced information technology studies.

We warmly welcome all students of the MIT 2025 Intake and wish them success in their postgraduate journey.

The inauguration ceremony for the Master of Information Technology (2024 Intake) program was conducted on 27th October 2024 as an online event.

We are grateful to Prof. M. Sunil Shantha, the Vice Chancellor of Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka, for joining as the Chief Guest; Prof. K.S.L. Gunawardana, Head of the Department of Information Technology at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, as the Guest of Honour; and Prof. Pradeep Abeygunawardhana, Dean of the Faculty of Computing at SLIIT, as the Keynote Speaker for their intellectual contributions at the inauguration.

The 25th General Convocation of the Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka was successfully held on the 12th and 13th of September 2024 at the university. Students from the second batch of the Master of Information Technology (MIT) program received their degrees at the convocation.
