We Stand With Our Neighbour
If you believe a single incident is enough to judge a whole school, you lose sight of what it means to be human. We believe that misfortune can befall anyone, and no school deserves to go through this darkness alone.
As Asokians, we remember that our neighbors have always stood by us in good times and bad. Legacies are not built overnight, and they should not be destroyed by one incident overnight either. We have not forgotten the difficult times we faced, especially in 2001. Even though that was a totally different story happening before the age of social media, our neighbors at Nalanda, along with many neighboring schools, were still the first to stand with us. We built our legacy alongside yours; though we have different identities and timelines, we share the same ground.
We urge our fellow Asokians or anyone do not mock our neighbors, even on social media. In a civilized world, we must show respect. It is unfair to judge a proud history spanning a century based on the isolated, uncontrolled actions of few individuals. This applies to us as much as it applies to you either your work or personal life as well.
We have always respected our brotherhood. Whenever we faced trouble, our neighbors were the first responders, and we will always be the same for you. In Colombo 10, we stand together.
We believe time will heal everything. Until then, be strong. We understand the anger and the sadness you face. What happened was totally wrong and unjust; however, it is unfair to judge an entire school based on a single incident or the isolated, uncontrolled actions of a few individuals. We cannot let that happen, and we believe you will find the right solutions.
