රත්නපුරයේ පළමු පාසල වශයෙන් ක්‍රිස්තු වර්ෂ
1848 වසරෙදි වර්තමාන රත්නපුර පොලිසිය අසල තිබූ දැවැන්ත සියඹලා ගසක් යට මෙම පාසල පළමුවෙන්ම ආරම්භ කර ඇත.

රත්නපුර බලකොටුව තුළ පිහිටුවා තිබූ බ්‍රිතාන්‍ය
ඇන්ග්ලිකන් නිකායට හෙවත් එංගලන්ත සභාවට(වත්මන් ලංකා සභාවට) අයත් පල්ලිය මගින් මෙම මිසනාරී පාසල පවත්වාගෙන ගොස් ඇත.

අද වන විට පල්ලිය හෝ පාසල හෝ කොටුව පරිශ්‍රයේ දැකගත නොහැකි වුවද ක්‍රිස්තු වර්ෂ 1883 දී වර්තමාන ධර්මපාල මාවත අසල
සුන්දර කුඩා කඳු ගැටයක
ශාන්ත ලුක්ස් (St'Lukes)
යන නාමයෙන්ම පාසල ස්ථාපිත කර තිබෙ.

ඇන්ග්ලිකන් නිකායික මිෂනාරි සමාගමෙන් මෙරට ඇරඹූ පළමු පාසල් තුනෙන් එකක් වූ ශාන්ත ලුක්ස් විද්‍යාලය ක්‍රිස්තු වර්ෂ 1961 දී රජයට පවරා ගෙන ඇත.

එතෙක් ප්‍රභූ පැලැන්තියේ පිරිමි ළමුන් සඳහා පමණක් ඉංග්‍රීසි මාධ්‍යයෙන් අධ්‍යාපනය ලබාදුන් මෙම පාසල ඉන් වසර විස්සකට පසු මිශ්‍ර පාසලක් බවට පත් කළ බව වාර්තාවල සඳහන් වේ.
