වෙහෙර ගලින් (අනුරාධපුර දිස්ත්‍රික්කය) රන් ආලේප කළ ලෝකඩ, ඝන වාත්තු ක්‍රමය

වීරාසන ඉරියව්වෙන් හිඳි බුදුන් වහන්සේ සමාධි ගතව, ඊට සරිලන අයුරින් අඩක් පියවුනු ඇස් වලින් චිත්ත - ඒක ග්‍රතාව පිළිඹිඹු කරයි. මුළුමණින්ම කෙස් රැලි වලින් වැසුණු හිස මුදුන මඳක් උස්ව උෂ්ණීෂයද ඒ මත ඥානසිකාව නිරූපණය කෙරෙන සිරස්පතද දක්වයි. විනිවිද පෙනෙනසුලු සිවුර දකුණු උරය විවෘත වන සේ පොරවා ඇත. දෙපසට විහිදුනු පෙති සහිත පියුමක් මත බුදුහු වැඩ හිඳිති.

Seated Buddha (c. 9th century)

Gilt Bronze, solid cast

The Buddha is seated in Virasana posture with hands in samadhi mudra. The image, showing half-closed eyes that fit the attitude of concentration quite fittingly, is of excellent workmanship. The head, covered in snail-shell curls, has a slightly raised usnisa surmounted by a gem-set siraspata, signifying the flame of knowledge. The robe, worn bare on the right shoulder as usual, appears to be of a thin texture. The Buddha is seated on a double-petalled lotus pedestal.
