From the timeless walls of Galle Fort to the waves that have shaped its story for centuries, Galle stands as one of Sri Lanka’s most treasured coastal cities, rich in culture, heritage, and community life.

Within this beautiful southern city, SOS Children’s Village Galle has been creating a place of love, belonging, and care since 1990.

Today, SOS Children’s Village Galle supports 76 children, 32 youth, and provides family-like care through 12 family houses. Beyond the Village, our Family Strengthening Programme supports 575 beneficiaries, helping families and communities become stronger, safer, and more resilient.

For over three decades, SOS Children’s Village Galle has been part of this historic city’s story, nurturing children, strengthening families, and building hope for generations to come.

Because every child deserves to grow with love, care, and a place to call home. 🩵

On this International Day of Families, we celebrate the power of relationships, because behind every thriving child is someone who made them feel safe, heard, and believed in.

Family is not only where a child grows up. It is where they are seen, supported, guided, and loved. A caring adult, whether a parent, teacher, mentor, caregiver, aunt, uncle, or friend, can change a child’s life.

At SOS Children’s Villages Sri Lanka, we believe every child should grow up in a safe and loving family environment whenever possible. For children who have lost parental care, SOS Children’s Villages becomes a family, with an SOS mother, siblings, loving aunties, uncles, and a caring community around them.

Flood Relief Initiative | From Emergency Response to Educational Recovery 💙

When floods disrupted lives across our communities, SOS Children’s Villages Sri Lanka responded with a structured four-stage relief Initiative, moving from urgent support to long-term recovery.

We began by delivering essential food and sanitary items to families during the most difficult days of the crisis. As communities stabilized, we shifted our focus to education. As part of the second phase of our initiative, we once again extended support to the people of the Seethawaka area by officially handing over 161 school kits at the Seethawaka Divisional Secretariat Office to support flood-affected children.

The donation handover event was graced by our Ambassador Roshan Mahanama, Founder of the Roshan Mahanama Trust (RMT), and our National Director, Mr. Divakar Ratnadurai. We are sincerely grateful for the continued support of government authorities and all partners involved.

This initiative was implemented by SOS Children’s Villages Sri Lanka, in collaboration with the Roshan Mahanama Trust (RMT), and made possible through the generosity of our donors. Because of you, relief became recovery, and recovery is becoming hope.
