𝐂𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟐/𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟑 𝐁𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡– 𝐅𝐚𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐃𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬, 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐲𝐚

The Clinical Induction Ceremony for the 2022/2023 batch (4th semester) of the Faculty of Dental Sciences, University of Peradeniya, was successfully held on Tuesday, 28th April 2026 at the K. Bambaradeniya Auditorium. The event marked a significant academic milestone for students as they transition into the clinical phase of their dental education.

The ceremony commenced with the arrival of invitees, followed by the lighting of the traditional oil lamp and the university anthem. The Dean of the Faculty, Prof. B.M.H.S.K. Banneheka, delivered the welcome address. The keynote speech was delivered by Professor Vasanthi Pinto, Chair Professor of Anaesthesiology & Critical Care, Department of Anaesthesiology & Critical Care, Faculty of Medicine, inspiring the students with words of encouragement and professional insight. A symbolic highlight of the programme was the reading of the oath by the batch representative, signifying the students’ commitment to ethical clinical practice.

The event also featured a summary of the ongoing collaboration between JICA and FDS, presented by Prof. Dileep De Silva, followed by a speech by the Chief Representative of JICA Sri Lanka, Mr. Kuronuma Kenji. His address underscored the strong academic partnership and support extended by JICA towards dental education and training.

Further remarks were delivered by Prof RW Pallegama, Deputy Vice Chancellor, University of Peradeniya, highlighting the university’s commitment to academic excellence and international collaboration.

A group of dental students performed a Japanese song, Adding further colour to the function.

We were also honored by the presence of Ms. Ide Yuri, Senior Representative, Education Section – JICA Sri Lanka. This thoughtful gesture underscores JICA’s continued dedication in supporting the academic and professional journey of future dental surgeons, while further strengthening the longstanding collaboration between JICA and the Faculty of Dental Sciences.

This memorable event reflected the faculty’s ongoing dedication to fostering global partnerships and shaping the next generation of competent and compassionate dental professionals.

A former Dean of the Faculty and Head of the Department of Oral Pathology, Prof. Amaratunga has made exceptional contributions to the advancement of Oral Pathology and dental education. 𝐏𝐆 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐒𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐚 𝐃𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐞, 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐚 𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐚𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐲

Five postgraduate students from Saveetha Dental College, India visited the Faculty of Dental Sciences, University of Peradeniya from 16 March 2026 to 23 March 2026. They successfully completed a Clinical Observation Program in Oral Medicine and Radiology at the Department of Oral Medicine and Periodontology.

This program was conducted under the Memorandum of Understanding between the Faculty of Dental Sciences, University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka and Saveetha Dental College, Saveetha Institute of Medical & Technical Sciences, India.

The Faculty extends its appreciation to the visiting students for their active participation and wishes them success in their academic endeavors.

𝐃𝐢𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐦𝐚 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐲 𝐇𝐞𝐥𝐝 𝐚𝐭 𝐅𝐚𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐃𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬

The Diploma Awarding Ceremony of the Dental Auxiliary Training School (DATS), Faculty of Dental Sciences, University of Peradeniya, was held ceremoniously on 7th April 2026 at the K. Bambaradeniya Auditorium.
The welcome address was delivered by Prof. K. M. Wijerathne, Director of the Dental Auxiliary Training School. This was followed by an address from Prof. B. M. H. S. K. Banneheka, Dean of the Faculty of Dental Sciences, and a speech by Dr. Ananda Chandrasekara, the First Director of the Dental Auxiliary Training School.
A total of 43 Dental Auxiliaries were awarded diplomas during the ceremony. Among them were 19 recipients of the Higher Diploma in Dental Technology and 24 recipients of the Diploma in Dental Assisting, representing the Sri Lanka Army, Sri Lanka Navy, Sri Lanka Air Force, Sri Lank Police, the Ministry of Health, Privet sector and the nursing staff of the Faculty of Dental Sciences.
The Vote of Thanks was delivered by Mrs. Sandya Adikari, Matron of the Dental Teaching Hospital, Faculty of Dental Sciences, expressing appreciation to all those who contributed to the success of the occasion.
The ceremony was conducted with great pride and dignity, recognizing the dedication and professional achievements of the graduates.
