Festivals in Sri Lanka – Speech

Good morning everyone!

Today, I am going to talk about festivals in Sri Lanka. 🇱🇰🎉

Sri Lanka is a beautiful country with many different cultures and religions. We celebrate many colourful and meaningful festivals throughout the year.

Sinhala and Tamil New Year, or Avurudu, is celebrated in April. People make traditional sweets, play games and visit their relatives.

Vesak is an important Buddhist festival. People decorate their homes with lanterns and colourful decorations.

Christmas is celebrated by Christians with Christmas trees, gifts and special prayers. 🎄

Deepavali is an important Hindu festival known as the Festival of Lights. 🪔

Eid al-Fitr is celebrated by Muslims after the holy month of Ramadan. 🌙

Poson is another important Buddhist festival that commemorates the arrival of Buddhism in Sri Lanka. 🪔

These festivals make Sri Lanka a colourful and united country. They teach us to respect and celebrate our different cultures and traditions.
