We extend our heartfelt appreciation to WAYO, a highly esteemed music band in Sri Lanka, for their invaluable contribution as the mentoring and education partner for the Dhaara Young Artist Awards. This initiative is designed to help undergraduates hone their innate talents while creating a knowledge-sharing platform to nurture their artistic abilities and propel them into the creative industry.

Through a series of insightful sessions and workshops, industry professionals are imparting their expertise to enthusiastic undergraduates, highlighting pathways for leveraging their unique talents in the creative sector.

Dhaara is one of the largest talent events in our university's history, showcasing the incredible talent pool across all faculties. On the night of October 25th at Nelumpokuna, we will celebrate our most talented young artists through captivating performances by musicians, singers, and dancers.

Additionally, many students are actively engaged as organizing committee members, gaining vital skills in teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving—the core objectives of this project.

Dhaara 2024 provides a platform for knowledge-sharing and skill-building through sessions and workshops led by professionals from the creative industry. These opportunities empower students to explore career pathways and further their talents in music, dance, and performance arts.
This year's event is the largest talent showcase in the history of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, involving students from all faculties. From talented musicians and singers to dancers, our final event on October 25th at Nelumpokuna will spotlight the best artistic talent at the university, culminating in the prestigious Young Artist Awards.
Beyond the performances, over 100 students are actively involved as organizing committee members, honing their teamwork, leadership, problem-solving skills, etc., through their involvement in planning this event.

We proudly celebrated the 15th anniversary of the Career Skills Development Society (CSDS) at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura—a student body dedicated to enhancing the employability skills of our undergraduate community.
From organizing faculty-wide job fairs and industry collaborations for interviews to playing a key role in the J'pura Employability Skills Awards, CSDS has been instrumental in preparing students for their careers. Their remarkable service extends to skills development workshops and impactful CSR projects, like the one held today at "Ranaviru Sewana" in Aththidiya.
CSDS members develop essential skills as leaders and organizers and gain invaluable industry experience. Many of our members have achieved great success in the corporate world, and it has been my privilege to support and lead their efforts.

Only those who have demonstrated outstanding progress in their skill development journey will advance to the interviews, where they’ll be evaluated by experts from the corporate sector and senior lecturers.
