Ever wonder why your Negroni or Manhattan tastes that good? 🍸 It’s not just randomly spiced wine. It’s actually a brilliant, precise chemical tug-of-war.

Vermouth starts with a heavy, viscous body loaded with sugar. To keep it from being cloyingly sweet, makers drop in a secret weapon: wormwood. This aggressively bitter herb acts as the perfect counterweight, locking the flavor into a perfect equilibrium. ⚖️

Once that sweet-and-bitter foundation is set, delicate aromatics like citrus and spices can finally shine. Next time you take a sip, remember—you’re drinking a perfectly balanced masterpiece.

What’s your go-to vermouth cocktail? Let me know below! 👇

The BBC cocktail gained significant popularity in the 1980s and 1990s, particularly within the Caribbean resort culture.

The "Resort" Origin: Many bartenders believe the drink was perfected at high-end resorts in the Caribbean, such as those in Jamaica or the Bahamas. The goal was to create a "vacation drink" that combined popular ingredients of the time—Baileys Irish Cream (which was booming in popularity), Banana Liqueur, and the tropical staple, Piña Colada.

The Name: The name is a clever acronym for the three primary components: Baileys, Banana, and Colada. It was designed to be easy for tourists to remember and order at hotel bars.

Evolution: As frozen blenders became standard equipment in bars during the late 20th century, the BBC became a flagship "frozen cocktail" alongside the classic Piña Colada and Strawberry Daiquiri.
