Royal International School was proud to host “The Fundamentals of Debating” workshop, organised by The Chatterbox Academy and led by our very own debate coach, Mr. Ruwin Mapa, in collaboration with The Debaters’ Council of Sri Lanka.

Students from 11 leading schools across Kurunegala took their first steps into the world of WSDC-style debating, learning the structures, strategies, and skills that define persuasive speakers and critical thinkers.

The sessions, conducted by coaches from The Chatterbox Academy and The Debaters’ Council of Sri Lanka, explored the fundamentals of argumentation, rebuttal techniques, and the frameworks used in the WSDC format.

A highlight of the day was the exhibition debate by the A and B teams of Royal International School Kurunegala on the motion “This House Would Choose a Career Based on Money Rather Than Passion”, a lively and insightful exchange that inspired all participants.

A heartfelt thank you to the dedicated trainers and all participating schools for making this debut session a resounding success!
