Ananda Balika Vidyalaya Kotte Welcome to Ananda Balika Vidyalaya Welcome to Ananda Balika Vidyalaya

Ananda Balika Vidyalaya stands in proud memory of the late E.W. Mrs. K.

Adhikaram, a great Buddhist revivalist, educationist, philosopher and scientist. Although the school is located in a commercial area not far from the commercial hub of Nugegoda within its premises exist perfect calm and serenity. Ananda Balika Vidyalaya is a sister school of Ananda Sastralaya, Kotte. The school, which began its existence on January 11, 1971, today, 2014 has proudly stepped into its 43rd year. Though it does not lay claim to a long history, this institution holds enough evidence of development during its relatively short period of existence. Welikala was the first principal of Ananda Balika Vidyalaya. At its inception the school had 987 students on roll and the strength of the teaching staff was 37. The school was elevated to the status of a maha vidyalaya during Mrs. Welikala’s stewardship. Being an indefatigable lady her service and dedication has helped the school to be graded as 1-AB by the Education Ministry.
