Kandy Film School Celebrates First Batch at Grand Certificate Completion Ceremony

Kandy Film School proudly held its Batch 01 Certificate Completion Ceremony on March 1, 2026, at the Oak Ray Regency Hotel, Kandy, marking a historic milestone in the institution’s journey of nurturing emerging filmmakers.

The ceremony was graced by Chief Guests Professor W. M. P. Sudarshana Bandara, Head of the Department of Fine Arts, University of Peradeniya, and award-winning film director and scriptwriter Shameera Naotunna. Among the distinguished invitees was Subhasha Liyanage, Head of Programs, Media and Special Projects Bureau at Sri Dalada Maligawa, whose presence added cultural and institutional significance to the occasion.

A keynote address delivered by the Chief Guests emphasized the importance of technical excellence, disciplined creativity, and ethical storytelling in the evolving digital film industry. They commended the graduates for successfully completing rigorous practical training and encouraged them to contribute meaningfully to Sri Lanka’s cinematic landscape.

Graduates were awarded the Certificate of Completion in Digital Cinematography & Camera Operation, recognizing their successful completion of professional training conducted from June 2025 to September 2025.

Certificates were also presented to students of the Editor Class, and Filmer Class and Voicing & Presentation Class highlighting the school’s comprehensive and industry-oriented curriculum.

The successful completion of Batch 01 stands as a testament to Kandy Film School’s commitment to developing technically skilled, creatively visionary, and professionally prepared filmmakers for the future of Sri Lankan cinema.
