Sarisara Vindana 2014; the annual environmental workshop, organizedby the Nature Club of Mahamaya Girls’ College,Kandy has been conducted successfullyfor the continuous 10th time at Willpattu National Park on 2ndand 3rd of February 2014.

Mahamaya Harasara Shaaka
- Taking special care of endemic, herbal and other valuable
plants planted in the school premises by tagging names and
scientific names on them.

Maintaining the School Herbarium
- Planting and budding herbal plants and taking care of them.
- Studying plant growth
- Pest controlling

Recycling Paper Project
- Making greeting cards and paper bags using recycled papers
made out of collected waste paper from classes.

Water Quality Monitoring
- A project introduced by National Water Supply and Drainage
Board.
- This project has been performed at Kandy Lake, Heelpan
Kandura and Meda-Ela.

Wetland Education Unit
- A project introduced by the Faculty of Engineering, University
of Peradeniya.
- Conveying the concept of Constructed Wetlands as a way of
waste water purification

Mahaweli Projects

Conferment of the 'Parisara Sumithuru' Award
-Selecting the best environmental friendly house in annual
sports meet as an encouragement to make the students keep
the environment clean.

It was a big task to organize a night out program inside anational park. If it wasn't for the immense support you gave us, this dreamwould have never been a reality.

We would like to thank our madam principal Mrs. IWithanachchi, for giving us permission and the courage we needed to organize thisprogram trusting us and knowing our talents.

We must thank the Director General of the Department of WildlifeConservation; Mr. Dayawan Ratnayake for supplying us this marvelous opportunityand for his immense cooperation to make this event a success.
