His commitment to education and discipline has left an indelible mark on thousands of students.

A Legacy of Leadership: Ranil Meetiyagoda's Transformative Tenure at St. Sylvester's College
​For 16 years, St. Sylvester's College, Kandy, was guided by a leader who was not only its principal but also one of its own. Mr. Ranil Meetiyagoda, an alumnus of the prestigious institution, served as its head from 2001 until his retirement in November 2017, leaving an indelible mark on his alma mater.
​Mr. Meetiyagoda's tenure was characterized by a clear vision to elevate the college to be on par with any leading school in the country. He understood the power of community and successfully rallied the college's influential Old Boys' Association, channelling their support to fuel development and growth.
​One of his earliest and most notable contributions was the founding of the St. Sylvester's College gymnastics club in 2002, demonstrating a commitment to diversifying the school's sporting prowess. This commitment to all-around excellence was recognized nationally when the college, under his leadership, won the National Productivity Award in 2005.
​A forward-thinking educator, Mr. Meetiyagoda championed the integration of technology into the classroom. This vision, which he reportedly held since 2010, was fully realized in 2017 with the launch of the XOLO Smart Classroom platform. This initiative was a pioneering move for the region, marking St. Sylvester's as the first school in the Central Province to adopt such advanced educational technology on a large scale.
​Administratively, he was known for his effective management style, which included decentralizing leadership through a "Central Management Committee" to ensure the smooth operation of a large school that, during his time, grew to cater to over 3,600 students and 170 teachers.
​Mr. Meetiyagoda's contributions have been formally recognized and memorialized. His legacy as a respected principal and educator is cemented by the "Asoka Herath - Ranil Meetiyagoda Challenge Trophy," awarded for the annual basketball encounter between St. Sylvester's College and Gateway College, Kandy.
​After his retirement, Mr. Meetiyagoda has continued to contribute to the field of education, serving as the Board Secretary for the SIBA Campus. His long and impactful career at St. Sylvester's College remains a testament to his dedication as both an educator and a proud "Old Sylvestrian"

" පොතක් ලියන නව උගතෙක් - ජාතියට මිණි පහනක් " නමින් ග්‍රන්ථකරණ ව්‍යාපෘතිය සදහා My Sylvesters සන්නාමය යටතේ අපගේ අනුග්‍රහය හිමි වුණා. එහිදී හිටපු ප්‍රධාන ශිෂ්‍ය නායකයෙකු වූ ප්‍රවීණ දේශක කෝසල ප්‍රියංග පතිරණ මහතා විසින් සම්මාන හා සහතික සඳහා පූර්ණ අනුග්‍රහය ලබා දෙමින් ග්‍රන්ථකරණයේ නියැලෙන වර්තමාන සිසුන් 18 දෙනෙකු දිරිමත් කරනු ලැබුවා.

අප දරුවන්ගේ කියවීමේ හා ලිවීමේ කුසලතා වර්ධනයට මෙන්ම අප දරුවන් දැනුමෙන් සන්නද්ධ කිරීම සඳහා පුස්තකාලාධිපති A A S K අමරසිංහ ගුරුතුමිය සිදුකරන සේවය මෙන්ම එතුමියගේ අප්‍රතිහත කැපවීම වෙනුවෙන් My Sylvesters සමූහයේ කෘතවේදීත්වය.
