யாழ்ப்பாணப் பல்கலைக்கழக அரசறிவியல் துறையின் இரண்டாம் வருட சிறப்பு கலை மாணவர்கள், 'இலங்கையின் அரசியலமைப்பு வளர்ச்சி' எனும் பாடப்பரப்புடன் தொடர்புடைய களஆய்வை மேற்கொண்டுள்ளார்கள்.

இலங்கையின் நீண்டகால இனப்பிரச்சினைக்கான தீர்வுத் திட்ட வரைவுகள் மற்றும் புதிய அரசியலமைப்பு முயற்சிகள் குறித்து, தமிழ் அரசியல் பரப்பில் காணப்படும் பிரதான அரசியல் கட்சிகளின் நிலைப்பாடுகள் என்ன? அவர்களின் எதிர்கால அரசியல் நகர்வுகள் மற்றும் திட்டங்கள் எவை? போன்ற மிக முக்கிய விடயங்களை ஆழமாக அறிந்து கொள்வதற்காக இக்களவிஜயம் ஏற்பாடு செய்யப்பட்டிருந்தது.

இதன்போது, தமிழ் தேசிய பரப்பில் இயங்கும் பிரதான நான்கு கட்சிகளின் தலைமைகள் மற்றும் பிரதிநிதிகளை மாணவர்கள் நேரடியாகச் சந்தித்து விரிவான கலந்துரையாடல்களில் ஈடுபட்டனர்:
1.இலங்கைத் தமிழரசு கட்சி
2.தமிழ்த் தேசியப் பேரவை
3.ஜனநாயக தமிழ்த் தேசியக் கூட்டணி
4.தமிழ் மக்கள் கூட்டணி

வகுப்பறைக் கற்றல் மற்றும் கோட்பாட்டு விளக்கங்களுக்கு அப்பால், சமகால அரசியல் தலைமைகளுடன் நேரடியாகக் கலந்துரையாடி, அரசியல் சாசன முயற்சிகள் மற்றும் தீர்வுத் திட்டங்கள் பற்றிய ஒரு தெளிவான, நடைமுறைப் புரிதலைப் பெற்றுக் கொள்ள இக்கலந்துரையாடல்கள் மாணவர்களுக்குப் பெரிதும் உதவியாக அமைந்தன.

The second-year Special Arts students of the Department of Political Science at the University of Jaffna have undertaken a field research study as part of the course 'Constitutional Development of Sri Lanka'.

This field visit was organized to gain a deep understanding of key issues, such as the positions of the main political parties within the Tamil political sphere regarding proposed solutions for Sri Lanka's long standing ethnic problem and new constitutional initiatives, as well as their future political moves and strategies.

During the visit, students met directly with the leadership and representatives of four major parties operating within the Tamil national landscape and engaged in detailed discussions:

1.Illankai Tamil Arasu Kachchi (ITAK)
2.Tamil National Council (TNC)
3.Democratic Tamil National Alliance (DTNA)
4.Tamil People's Alliance (TPA)

Beyond classroom learning and theoretical explanations, these discussions greatly helped the students gain a clear, practical understanding of constitutional efforts and proposed solution frameworks by interacting directly with contemporary political leaders.

As part of the PAVE project, a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) focusing on the social engagement of political science students, bringing together around 27 stakeholders from various disciplines, was successfully held on March-31 (2026) from 1.00 pm to 4.00 pm at the Tilko Jaffna City Hotel in Jaffna. The participants included major political parties, the Deputy Election Commissioner, election observers, polling station staff, academics and key civil society organizations from the Jaffna district. During the session, both study groups presented their research objectives, activities undertaken so far and preliminary findings. The discussion was conducted in a ‘World Café’ format to encourage inclusive and deep engagement among the participants.

Stakeholders actively contributed by sharing their experiences, perspectives, and practical insights related to electoral processes and youth political participation. The discussion provided an opportunity for co-creating actionable recommendations aimed at improving voter education and strengthening inclusive political engagement.

The Department of Political Science, University of Jaffna, has arranged a four-day (March 11-15) educational Study tour to Kandy, Colombo, Galle and Badulla for our Final Year students.

This visit is essential for acquiring practical knowledge relevant to the course units Conflict Analysis Theory and Practice and Themes in Political Sociology. The Study tour Mainly focus on the Parliament, University of Peradeniya for a lecture and other relevant places.

கிவுல் ஓயா திட்டம், உருவாகுமாயின் அதனால் தமிழ் மக்களினுடைய இருப்பிற்கு ஏற்படும் சவால்கள் பற்றிய ஓர் ஆழமான கலந்துரையாடல், யாழ்ப்பாணப் பல்கலைக்கழக அரசறிவியல் ஒன்றியத்தின் ஏற்பாட்டில் மார்ச்-09அன்று மேற்கொள்ளப்பட்டது. இக்கலந்துரையாடலில் ஓய்வுநிலை சிரேஷ்ட நிர்வாக சேவை அதிகாரி இரேனியஸ் செல்வின் அவர்கள் வளவாளராக கலந்து கொண்டிருந்தார்.

An in-depth discussion on the potential challenges to the existence and livelihoods of the Tamil community arising from the proposed Kivul Oya Project was held on March 9, organized by the Political Science Association of the University of Jaffna.

The session featured Mr. Irenius Selvin, a retired senior administrative service officer, as the resource person.

The senior students of the 45th Batch of the Department of Political Science, University of Jaffna, organized a welcome programme for the newly selected students who have been admitted to pursue the Special Degree Programme in Political Science.

The Department of Political Science warmly congratulates the students of the 46th Batch of the Faculty of Arts who have been selected to follow Political Science as their field of specialization.
