Even sadder is when Sri Lankan, Indian and other cuisines with a tradition of eating well and serving generous portions are reduced to tiny portions; broken down into individual elements when they are traditionally eaten mixed together to bring out the flavours; and yet still can’t command the high prices of Western fine dining. 😏

Does anyone know the Sinhala word for it?

A traditional hanging storage basket/frame used to keep food vessels safely above the ground.
Traditionally, milk, curd and hand-churned butter (வெண்ணெய்) were among the foods kept in it.

The uri is also famously associated with stories of Krishna, who was said to steal butter from pots hung high beyond his reach. 🪔🧈
