Faculty of Medicine Officially Launches Landmark 80 kW Mega Batch Solar Energy Project.
Marking a significant milestone in its commitment to sustainability and renewable energy, the Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo, officially launched the 80 kW Mega Batch Solar Energy Project on the 10th. The project, generously funded and donated by the Faculty's Mega Batch Alumni Group, was inaugurated under the patronage of the Hon. Deputy Minister of Environment, Anton Jayakody.
This landmark initiative reflects the Faculty's dedication to environmental stewardship, energy efficiency, and sustainable development, while highlighting the invaluable contribution of its alumni community toward advancing institutional progress and supporting a greener future.
The solar energy project is expected to significantly reduce the Faculty's carbon footprint and electricity costs, contributing to the University's broader sustainability goals and serving as a model for environmentally responsible practices within the higher education sector.

අවයව බද්ධ කිරීම (Organ Transplantation) යනු නවීන වෛද්ය විද්යාවේ විශිෂ්ටතම ජයග්රහණයන් අතරින් එකකි. අවයව අකර්මණ්යතාවයෙන් පෙළෙන රෝගීන්ට නැවත සෞඛ්ය සම්පන්න ජීවිතයක් ලබාදීමට මෙම ප්රතිකාර ක්රමය අතිශයින්ම වැදගත් වේ.

The Faculty of Graduate Studies, University of Colombo, is pleased to host a special session for MPhil and PhD candidates on the application of emerging technologies in contemporary research.
The workshop will be facilitated by Professor Senthilkumar Somasundaram, Chair of the Department of Computers and Technology at St. George’s University, Grenada. With extensive experience in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Robotics, Big Data Analytics, and technology-enabled innovation, Professor Senthilkumar has contributed to research spanning engineering, healthcare, finance, and intelligent systems.
Designed for researchers from diverse disciplines, the session will explore how emerging technological tools can support the entire research process—from developing research designs and collecting data to advanced analytics, knowledge discovery, and research dissemination. Particular attention will be given to the growing role of Artificial Intelligence and data-driven approaches in contemporary research practice.
The workshop forms part of the Research Methodology Course conducted under the MPhil/PhD Programme – 2026 and aims to equip postgraduate researchers with insights into the opportunities and challenges presented by rapidly evolving technological developments.
