German Teachers of Sri Lanka

03/10/2026

For us as German teachers, language is much more than vocabulary and grammar. It connects people, opens doors to new ideas and creates understanding across cultures.

On the German Day of Unity, we celebrate exactly that spirit: connection, dialogue and the belief that people can come closer together.

From Sri Lanka, we are proud to be part of this connection through the German language, through teaching, and through the many learners who continue to build bridges between our two countries. 🇩🇪🇱🇰

Stronger networks , more opportunities

Stronger networks, more opportunities 🇩🇪🤝🇱🇰

Our latest ‘Netzwerktreffen’ – a German-language networking meeting for the Embassy and its partner organisations – brought together representatives from AHK Sri Lanka, Goethe-Institut Sri Lanka, GIZ Sri Lanka, DVV International Sri Lanka, DAAD Sri Lanka and German Teachers of Sri Lanka to exchange ideas and explore new ways of working together.

These organisations are among Germany’s key partners in Sri Lanka, working across areas such as education, language learning, skills development, higher education, business and development cooperation.

This time, we were also joined by Ms. Shalindri Perera, from the CIRCULAR Programme, creating an opportunity to explore how different initiatives can connect and support young people in schools, as well as start-ups and early-stage businesses.

🌱💡 The CIRCULAR project, funded by the EU and Germany among other partners, focuses on reducing food waste and loss, as well as single-use plastic.

By bringing different perspectives and programmes around one table, we hope to identify where our work overlaps, build stronger connections and create even more opportunities together.
