The Department of Transport Management & Logistics Engineering (TMLE) successfully conducted the second session of our Research Dissemination Meeting (RDM) series on 26th March 2026.
At this session, Ms. Nikeshala Gunaratne (MSc Candidate) presented her research titled “Inter-terminal transport automation in seaports: Global insights and implementation barriers,” offering valuable perspectives on emerging trends and challenges in port operations.
The session also featured Dr. Madushan Madhava Jayalath (Senior Lecturer), who delivered an insightful talk on “Navigating the Research Publication Journey,” sharing practical guidance and experiences to support researchers in their academic publishing efforts.
The session stimulated engaging discussions and meaningful knowledge exchange, further reinforcing the purpose and impact of the RDM initiative.

The Department of Transport Management & Logistics Engineering (TMLE) successfully held the first session of our newly launched Research Dissemination Meeting (RDM) series on 26th February 2026.
The RDM was introduced as a monthly platform to encourage a stronger research culture within the department, creating space for open discussions, sharing research ideas, receiving constructive feedback, and building collaboration among postgraduate students and academic staff.
At this first session, Mr. Amila Bandara (PhD Candidate) presented his study titled “Reinventing the Manufacturing Supply Chains in Developing Economies: A Roadmap for Transition towards Industry 5.0,” while Mr. Kavith Balachandra (PhD Candidate) presented “Factors Influencing Organizational Resistance to Adopt Technologies to Enhance Sustainability in Supply Chains.” The session sparked engaging discussions and meaningful academic exchanges, setting a strong and positive tone for the future of this initiative.

Our Supply Chain Analytics and Innovation Lab (SCAandInnova) at the Department of Transport Management & Logistics Engineering (TMLE), University of Moratuwa, is proud to introduce new advanced equipment funded by the grant from the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD) under the NORHED II Programme (Project No. 68085), within the “Politics and Economic Governance” sub-theme and the project “Enhancing Lean Practices in Supply Chains: Digitalization,” including:
• Drones
• VR systems
• A 3D printer
These tools will strengthen project-based learning, inspire creativity, and give our students hands-on experience with emerging technologies shaping the future of supply chains.
