POLISHING A BRASS OBJECT. (Care of the Environment Activity)
Polishing brass is a Montessori Practical Life activity designed to build fine motor skills, concentration, and independence. Children learn to carefully apply polish to a dull brass object, wait for it to dry, and buff it with a cloth to reveal a shine, fostering responsibility and pride.
It also develops hand-eye coordination and finger dexterity, particularly through using the cotton bud to apply polish.
Children learn to care for their environment and take care of real household items.
Observe how perfectly this little 3 year old wraps up the activity.

Pounding and Seiving
This activity refines hand–eye coordination, wrist movement, and motor control while providing an engaging sensory experience. By recreating real-life tasks in a child-friendly environment, the pounding activity builds confidence, independence, and responsibility in daily life skills.
Observe how this little 4 year-old continues pounding till all the breadcrumbs are done! Cleaning and.clearing up after a task becomes second nature to a Montessori educated child.

In a Montessori classroom, "keeping things back" (returning materials) is fundamental, emphasizing order, responsibility, and respect for the environment. Children are guided to return a "work" to its exact spot on the shelf before selecting a new one. Also observe how this 3 year old walks across the class with awareness ... not stepping on another's child's mat.

Montessori Spindle Boxes are an essential math material learning tool designed to help young children grasp the concept of counting and number recognition. These boxes are divided into compartments, each labeled with numbers ranging from 0 to 9. The setup encourages children to associate numerical symbols with quantities in a tangible way.

Each compartment is filled with its corresponding number of spindles slender wooden rods that children can easily manipulate. By placing the correct number of spindles in each compartment, children develop a hands-on understanding of numbers, enhancing their learning through tactile experiences.

Sports Day 2026
Children at Living Tree Montessori develop the necessary physical skills vital for their overall growth.
Montessori sports cultivates athletic ability while nurturing life skills such as collaboration, and team effort leading to both personal and societal well being . Our mixed age group classes offers children between the ages of 2 to 6 to learn from each other .. with the older children being role models.
