Spirit was nominated for the State Literary Awards. Unfortunately in the wrong category. Although the back cover itself says Children's it was nominated under Youth alongside Butterfly by Sean Perera which is more an adult book. There was no winner in our category.
While I am honoured to be recognised I am concerned at this pairing for a variety of reasons. IYKYK
This is my 7th nomination. A big thank you to all parents, teachers, and children who have read my books and supported me over the last 10 years as an author.
As always I'm ready to talk about my book at any event so please reach out to me. This story covers themes such as imprisonment, loneliness, drugs in schools, hope and resilience in a sensitive child friendly manner
