Thidora Theatre workshop with the 30th batch of the ship for Worl 27/02/2018

Nippon Maru, carrying over 240 youth from 11 different countries of the word set its journey to Sri Lanka from the port of Yokohama, Japan on January 29. A group of the delegates from the 30th batch of the ship for World Youth Programme chose Thidora Theatre workshop to gain insights on how the traditional attitudes of disability could be changed in a creative spectrum.
The workshop was conducted by Rohana Deva and Ramani Damayanthi. The keynote speech delivered by Professor Sunnanda Mahendra. The young crowd mingled with the disabled students of the Thidora Theatre and explored the art of utilitarian creativity.
“I appreciate that I learned important things here. …. I began to feel my own body and emotions,” said Ryoko from Osaka.
“It was such an absolutely lovely job. I am thankful to the Institute for sharing the gift of music and dance with us,” Noemi del Castilo from Mexico said.
Nikki Vivienne from Australia said, “I saw a wonderful family at Thidora Theatre. It was a privilege to be here with them. I sincerely hope they will receive more recognition and support for their amazing work. They offered a voice to the disabled community. It truly touched my heart and gave me hope in humanity.”

Youth leaders around the globe with Thidora. 30/11/2016

Appreciating our work and our method of Drama Therapy which is being practiced by Thidora as a tool to enhance the communication skills of disable persons, Youth leaders around the world followed a training session at the National Youth Council Services auditorium, Maharagama. The workshop was conducted by Rohana Deva and Ramani Damayanyhi. It was organized by SLV Volunteers –Sri Lanka.
ආබාධිත පුද්ගලයින්ගේ සන්නිවේදන කුසලතා සංවර්ධනය සහ සමාජ චර්යා කළමනාකරණය සඳහා අප භාවිත කරන නාට්‍ය චිකිත්සා ක්‍රම වේදය පිළිබඳ බොහෝ දෙනෙකුගේ අවධානය යොමු වී ඇත. 2016 නොවැම්බර් 28 දින මහරගම ජාතික තරුණ සේවා සභා ශාලාවේදී පැවැත්වු වැඩ මුලුව සඳහා විදේශීය තරුණ නායක නායිකාවන් 41 දෙනෙක් සහභාගී විය.

In commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the faculty of Medicine of the University of Kelaniya organized a medical exhibition, MEDKEL 2016. It was held at the faculty premises. Along with the MEDKEL 2016 the Department of Disability Studies of the Faculty organized an ‘inclusive event’ for all, including children and adults with disabilities. According to the invitation of Prof. W. Abeyewickreme, Chairman of the Exhibition Committee, ThIDORA butterflies showcased their talents on the inclusive stage and it was highly appreciated.
