After eight impactful years, the Sustainable Education Foundation (SEF) and ScholarX are coming to a close. This wasn’t an easy decision, but as we step back to reflect on the journey, we want to celebrate the incredible impact we’ve made together.

What started as a simple idea—connecting Sri Lankan students with global opportunities—became a movement that shaped careers, sparked innovation, and built lifelong connections.

Here’s what we’ve built together:

ScholarX Mentorship – Matched 500+ mentors with 1,000+ students, providing over 5,000+ hours of mentoring. These mentorships paved the way for students to secure fully funded Master’s and PhD programs, land internships, and earn permanent roles at top-tier universities and world-class companies. Our mentees have published in tier-1 research journals, built companies, and become founders, open-source contributors, and leaders shaping the future of technology and research.

OneLive Webinar Series – Reached over 300,000 students, bringing insights from global experts on career development, industry trends, and academic pathways.

International Research Council (IRC) – Connected 300+ Sri Lankan academics from leading universities worldwide, fostering research collaborations and supporting Sri Lankan scholars in publishing groundbreaking work.

100+ Workshops & Collaborations – Partnered with universities and student organizations to conduct workshops, panels, and skill-building sessions.

AcadeMix – A program started during the COVID-19 pandemic, provided 100+ free educational resources, democratizing access to world-class learning materials and breaking down barriers to knowledge.

UpSpeak – Created a safe, interactive platform where students honed their English-speaking skills, boosting confidence and global career prospects.

Student Ambassador Program – Trained 100+ undergraduates, equipping them with the essential skills—leadership, communication, and adaptability—that are the foundation of success.

Across SEF and ScholarX, we didn’t just run programs—we built a movement. We proved that mentorship has no borders, that knowledge should be free, and that with the right guidance, Sri Lankan students can stand among the world’s best.

This journey wouldn’t have been possible without our mentors, volunteers, and the entire SEF community. Your passion, generosity, and belief in this mission made it all happen. For that, we are forever grateful.

As we step back to rethink how SEF and ScholarX can evolve into something even greater, we want to celebrate everything we’ve built together.
