πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ Nova Scotia is opening doors that more Sri Lankan students should know about.

What if your Canadian study journey could offer more than a qualification? πŸŽ“

Our recent conversation with Acadia University was about bringing greater awareness to Sri Lankan students about the opportunities emerging in Nova Scotia, a province with a growing international and Sri Lankan community.

From Acadia’s personalised learning environment and student experience to career development, industry exposure and opportunities to build your future after graduation, Nova Scotia deserves a closer look.

And for Sri Lankan students, having a growing Sri Lankan community means you can build new connections while still finding a sense of familiarity as you begin your Canadian journey. πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦πŸ‡±πŸ‡°

At Aussizz Sri Lanka, we believe students should explore the full picture before choosing where to study:
πŸŽ“ What will I study?
πŸ’Ό What career opportunities can I explore?
🌎 What kind of community will I be part of?
πŸš€ Where could this journey take me?

Our meeting with the Acadia team was another step towards bringing those conversations closer to Sri Lankan students.

Because your Canadian journey is not just about where you study. It’s about what you can build from there.

πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ What if your Canadian journey comes with a community that feels a little closer to home? πŸ‡±πŸ‡°β€οΈ

We were delighted to welcome the Acadia University team to our Aussizz Colombo office and talk about something beyond just studying abroad β€” building stronger connections between Sri Lankan students and the growing community in Nova Scotia.

Located in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, Acadia offers a close-knit university experience where students can build meaningful relationships, connect with people from around the world and become part of a welcoming community.

And now, we’re excited to work together to grow the Sri Lankan student community in Nova Scotia β€” creating more opportunities for students to connect, support one another and feel a sense of belonging while studying in Canada. πŸ‡±πŸ‡°πŸ€πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦

Plus, Acadia offers compelling value for international students:

πŸŽ“ International undergraduate tuition from approximately CAD 25,172/year
πŸ’° CAD 8M+ awarded annually through scholarships, awards & financial aid
🏠 Eligible international students can receive a CAD 2,000/year residence discount from Fall 2026 β€” up to CAD 8,000 over four years
🌎 Students from 50+ countries contribute to Acadia’s diverse campus community

Study in Nova Scotia. Build your connections. Find your community. Create your future. πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦βœ¨

We’re looking forward to bringing more Sri Lankan students closer to Acadia University and the Nova Scotia experience.

🚨 MAJOR AUSTRALIAN VISA AND MIGRATION UPDATE

The Australian Government has announced the next stage of migration reforms affecting skilled applicants, international students, visitors and Working Holiday Makers.

Key announced changes include:

βœ… Priority skilled visa processing for healthcare, construction, education, law enforcement, defence, resources, agriculture, aquaculture and fishing.

πŸŽ“ Measures to stop student visa hopping and restrict secondary applicants on most student visas.

✈️ A β€œNo Further Stay” condition to be introduced across visitor visas.

🌏 A ballot system for second and third-year Working Holiday Maker visas, supported by regional work requirements.

βš–οΈ Stronger compliance action against visa overstayers and migration agents who knowingly support applications without merit.

⚠️ IMPORTANT: These changes are being implemented progressively over the next 12 months. Not every announced measure commenced today, and further eligibility rules and commencement dates will follow.

Do not change your course, cancel an application or alter your visa strategy based only on headlines. Obtain advice for your individual circumstances.

⚠️ REPORTED STUDENT VISA PROPOSAL

International students may soon be effectively prevented from bringing dependent family members to Australia.

The Federal Government is expected to formally outline the proposed changes on 17 September 2026.

What we know so far:
β€’ Student visa numbers are reportedly expected to remain unchanged
β€’ Dependent partners and children may face significant new restrictions
β€’ The commencement date and transitional arrangements are not yet confirmed
β€’ It is unclear how current students and already-lodged applications will be treated

IMPORTANT: This change is not yet in force.

Do not cancel, withdraw or restructure an application based solely on media reporting.
