On 06th June 2025, the Thurstan College 1st XV Rugby Team received a generous donation of Rs. 250,000/- from the Batch of 2009 being a co-sponsor for the warm-up jersey of 2025 season. This contribution was officially handed over by Mr. Nipuna Tharaka, Vice President of Thurstanites'09, Batch of 2009 along with Mr. Dileep Madusanka, Joint Secretary and Mr. Gihan Hewage, former 1st XV Rugby player of 2009 Batch.

The event was graced by the presence of Mr. Athula, Deputy Principal, POG of Thurstan College, committee members of Thurstan Rugby Club as well as the 2025 Team Captain, Hansa Indramala, and Vice-Captains, Esitha Apoorwa and Vinuka Hejitha.

The Group of 2009 extends its continued support and best wishes to the team for a successful 02 leg of the season ahead.

Annual General Meeting of Thurstanites' 09, Batch of 2009 was held at the Thurstan College main hall on 25th of October 2022 with the participation of Mr. Pramuditha Wickramasinghe - Principal of Thurstan College, Mr. Noel Joseph as the Chief Guest, Mr. Aflal Izzadeen as the Guest of Honour, Mr.Arunashantha Amarasinghe - SDS Secretary, Mr. Dhanushka Perera - Snr VP ofJOBU and Mr. Chatura Lanthana Perera - Jnt. Secretary of JOBU. The new committee was appointed for the year of 2023 at the event.

Collection of Rs.190,000/- made for the main hall chairs project was handed over to Mr. Noel Joseph, Senior Vice President of Thurstan College Old Boys Union today morning at the college premises by President of Thurstanites 09s, Mr Vinod Ranawaka, Vice President Mr Heshan Perera and Treasurer Mr Supun Kalanaka.
