Congratulations to Chethana, Lakshiya, Asher and Ifthikar who were Runners-up at the General Sir John Kotelawela Memorial Moot Court Competition held on the 15th of March. The team was also adjudged the Runner-up in the Best Memorandum for Respondent category. Our congratulations to Chethana for being awarded Runner-up in the Best Oralist category!

We are really proud of the team for their splendid performance! The MCDS is immensely grateful to Namya Gunawardena Jayasinghe for coaching the team!

We are extremely pleased to announce that the team representing the Faculty of Law, University of Colombo made it to the Advanced Rounds of the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition! Many congratulations to the team comprising Amaya, Daniella, Mahin, Rushmi and Sandun for their achievements and endurance amidst continued challenges!

The team was ranked among the top 50 best speakers of the Competition! Their rankings are as follows:

Best Oralist: Preliminary Rounds
•2nd Place - Daniella Perera
•7th Place - Sandun Batagoda
•42nd Place - Mahin De Silva

Best Oralist: Advanced Rounds
•19th Place - Daniella Perera

The team has been fortunate enough to be backed by a support system and we owe them a huge debt of gratitude. This milestone would not have been possible without Co-Coaches Shanil Wijesinghe and Thahira Cader who extensively prepared the team with dedication and patience. Thank you Shanil and Thahira for being the team's sources of wisdom and strength!

Team advisors Sachintha Dias and Professor Muthucumaraswamy Sornarajah deserve heartfelt appreciation for assisting the team in the run-up to the competition.

Many thanks to Tessa Walker, Executive Director of ILSA for personally coordinating with the team amid repeated concerns over Power cuts and Curfew.

Special thanks to Professor Antony Anghie, Professor Zachery Lampell, Dr. Katie Johnston, Dr. Sanjana Hattotuwa, Dr. Kalana Senaratne, Xuan Shao,Tavini Nanayakkara, Sanjayan Rajasingham, Minaal Wickremasinghe, Radheena de Alwis and Saranee Gunathilaka for taking time off their busy schedules to advise the team during sessions.

Warmest congratulations to Anuk Dharmasena Laksh*tha Edirisinghe and Shabnam Mohamed for qualifying to the Semi Final Round of the 38th Edition of the Jean-Pictet Competition held from the 19th to the 26th of March 2022 in Durres, Albania. Congratulations to Anuk Dharmasena⁩ for winning the Gilbert- Apollis Prize!

A special thank you to their coach Amanda Halliday for being a source of indomitable strength to the team! Many thanks to their tutor at the competition Mr. Bahaeddin Kayrak for his constant encouragement and support.

Furthermore we would like to extend our gratitude to Mr. Sylvester Worthington, the ICRC Delegation in Sri Lanka, and Mr. James Peter for their assistance.

Heartiest Congratulations to Anuja, Pragathi and Sanjula for emerging Champions at the Henry Dunant Memorial Moot Court Competition-2021, Sri Lanka National rounds!

The team went on to represent the University of Colombo at the Asia Pacific Rounds of the Competition, held virtually on the 10th of March 2022.

The team representing the Faculty of Law, University of Colombo emerged runners-up at the first ever Constitutional Law Moot Court Competition, CLM 2021, held on the 21st, 22nd and 28th of August.

The team comprised Hirudinie Wickramanayake, Udeep Tennakoon, Ishan Kuruwita Arachchi and Theshani Weligamage. The team also won the award for the Best Written Submission on behalf of the Petitioner, and the Best Written Submission overall.

The team was coached by Ms. Sindhu Ratnarajan, a former graduate of the Faculty of Law, University of Colombo.

Congratulations, team, and thank you Ms. Ratnarajan.
