Spotted Cubs

Lion cubs are born with dark spots on their fur. These spots provide natural camouflage, helping vulnerable cubs blend into grass and shaded surroundings while they are young. As cubs grow older, their spots gradually fade and become less noticeable. This temporary camouflage gives them an important survival advantage during their early months, when they are vulnerable to predators and still developing the strength, coordination and skills needed to survive independently.

Antler Growth

Deer can regrow their antlers every year. Antlers are among the fastest growing tissues in the animal kingdom. During growth, they are covered by a soft layer called velvet, which supplies blood and nutrients to the developing bone. Once fully grown, the antlers harden as the velvet dries and is shed. These remarkable structures are mainly used for display, competition and defense.
