The Department of Sports Sciences and Physical Education, Faculty of Applied Sciences proudly organizes the 1st International Conference on Applied Sports (ICAS) under the theme of Emerging Prospects of Sports and Physical Education in Sri Lanka. The aim of this event is to provide an international platform to promote academic and industrial research. Furthermore, this conference will encourage re

searchers to examine local and global trends in their research fields to share the developments, technology, skills, knowledge, and investments and provide an opportunity for young scientists around the world to present their research findings with a large research community. Participating in this conference represents a way of inter-personal and inter-institutional communication based on research themes specific to the modern trends of the Sports Science and Physical Education domain, but also to the connection domains, having implications focused on the improvement of the qualitative level of the academic environment reflected in the direction of scientific research, sport science, sports performance, physical education, health, and social environment.

ICAS 2025, hosted by the Department of Sports Sciences and Physical Education at Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka, was a huge success!

Significant research findings were presented by both local and international participants during the technical sessions. These studies covered three major research tracks. The sessions were chaired by distinguished scholars, renowned for their expertise in the relevant research fields, from both state and private universities.
The event concluded successfully, with all participants sharing insights of their groundbreaking findings and sharing a knowledge base among all of us.

The inauguration ceremony of the 2nd International Conference on Applied Sports (ICAS 2025) was successfully concluded on the 7th of November 2025 at the Lavanga Beach Hotel, Hikkaduwa, Sri Lanka.

The event was graced by the presence of Professor K. R. Koswattage (Representative of the Vice-Chancellor, Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka), Professor R. M. K. T. Rathnayaka (Dean, Faculty of Applied Sciences), the keynote speaker Professor Geoff Dickson, invited speakers, prominent research fellows, industry representatives, and academic staff members of the Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka.
