Islander Center

We are a residential learning center and organic farm on 135 acres near Sri Lanka's Wilpattu National Park. Come visit!

Islander was established by Sewalanka Foundation, a non-profit development organization that works with rural communities throughout Sri Lanka. During a difficult time in the country, Islander became a neutral space for people from all regions to meet, discuss new ideas, share experiences, work and learn together. Islander is now opening its doors to individuals and groups that want to enjoy the beautiful environment of this unique organic farm and residential learning center.

We started the day with a Sinhala/ Tamil New Year games..a special time for fellowship with lots of fun and laughter! Miss Naomi Kunimoto's team won the overall games.

The day was followed by Orchestral practices set in the beautiful gardens of "Islander Sevalanka" Anuradhapura District. Peer learning activities were also carried out, where the students taught each other. A very rewarding moment for us to see how some of our students have matured and have acquired a lot of knowledge, understanding and patience. Seeing Kurunegala and Mullaitivu children teaching each other - is a true testimony of our project where Music alone becomes their link language/ their world!!

Cultivating land... it's really important to make nice soil. After checking pH, wow! We recognized our soil of new farm area is too acid!! Need to put paddy charcoal into soil.

Inside mad house it seems really comfortable & cool...nice natural environment.
