The Levant Institute for Strategic Affairs is a policy think tank that works with civil society organizations and decision-makers to promote and advocate for practical solutions to key social, economic, and political problems facing Lebanese society. Mission and Vision:
The Levant Institute for Strategic Affairs (LISA) is a policy think tank whose mission is to address and promote key solutions to
the fundamental economic, societal, and political issues facing Lebanese society in the 21st century. LISA works in coalitions and networks to strengthen social movements, and as a policy think tank offers unique approaches to public change including awareness of economic, social, and political issues as we work with civil society organizations and other institutions to bridge the gap between policy think tanks, activist networks, decision-makers, and other social movements. 3. Building a vibrant inter-generational community with a common commitment to democratic values
LISA addresses this work through education and advocacy activities in national and international forums. In addition to the role of LISA in coming up with new policy solutions to the list of issues that have plagued Lebanon over the decades, the Institute also aims at reframing the basic terms on which public debate takes place. LISA’s goal is to encourage public discussion and debate on pivotal issues faced by Lebanese society in order to create well-informed citizens that can shape a new vision of action for the future of Lebanon. LISA believes that to elicit widespread debate and impact the nation's political agenda, we must be more successful in promoting core ideals and in presenting alternative narratives to policymakers and the general public. Therefore, LISA looks for opportunities to organize events that:
• Promote economic and social justice
• Strengthen national collaboration and strategic alliances to advocate for change
• Accelerate the emergence of new voices into the political arena
• Develop local-global linkages
المهمة والرؤية:
معهد المشرق للشؤون الاستراتيجية (LISA) هو مركز أبحاث مهمته معالجة وتعزيز الحلول الرئيسية للقضايا الاقتصادية والاجتماعية والسياسية الأساسية التي تواجه المجتمع اللبناني في القرن الحادي والعشرين.
تعمل LISA في تحالفات وشبكات لتقوية الحركات الاجتماعية. وباعتبارها مؤسسة فكرية للسياسات، تقدم مناهج فريدة للتغيير العام بهدف ارساء الوعي بالقضايا الاقتصادية والاجتماعية والسياسية. ونعمل مع منظمات المجتمع المدني والمؤسسات الأخرى لسد الفجوة بين مراكز الفكر السياسية والشبكات الناشطة وصناع القرار والحركات الاجتماعية الأخرى.
يعمل المعهد على ثلاثة أهداف رئيسية وهي:
1. تعزيز الحلول الاجتماعية والاقتصادية في لبنان من خلال العمل السياسي
2. بناء التحالفات الاستراتيجية لتعزيز تمثيل المجتمع المدني ووحدته
3. بناء مجتمع حيوي متعدد الأجيال مع التزام مشترك بالقيم الديمقراطية
تتناول LISA هذا المهمات في أنشطتها التعليمية والدعوات إلى منتديات وطنية ودولية. بالإضافة إلى دور LISA في التوصل إلى حلول سياسية جديدة للمشاكل التي عانى منها لبنان على مدى عقود، يهدف المعهد أيضًا إلى إعادة صياغة المصطلحات الأساسية التي يتم على أساسها النقاش العام. هدف LISA هو تشجيع النقاش العام والنقاش حول القضايا المحورية التي يواجهها المجتمع اللبناني من أجل خلق مواطنين مطلعين يمكنهم تشكيل رؤية جديدة للعمل من أجل مستقبل لبنان.
تؤمن LISA أنه من أجل إثارة نقاش واسع النطاق والتأثير على الأجندة السياسية للأمة، يجب أن نكون أكثر نجاحًا في تعزيز المُثُل الأساسية وتقديم روايات بديلة لصانعي السياسات وعامة الناس. لذلك، تسعى LISA إلى:
• تعزيز العدالة الاقتصادية والاجتماعية
• تعزيز التعاون الوطني والتحالفات الاستراتيجية لمناصرة التغيير
• الإسراع في ظهور أصوات جديدة على الساحة السياسية
• تطوير الروابط المحلية والعالمية
