As an educational tour for the students of Kids Shell we visited the Delhi Fire Service station of Hari nagar area.
A fire station is a building where fire engines are kept, and where firefighters wait until they are called to put out a fire.
It was the first time our kids visited a fire station and got to know about many things. They saw a fire truck, warning alarm & siren.
Delhi Fire Service is the state-owned service that attends fire/rescue calls in Delhi. The service consists of 61 fire stations and 3280 firefighters and 289 mechanics. These firefighters attends to around 22,000 fire and rescue calls on an average every year. The kids enjoyed meeting the fire officers.
The administrative control of The Delhi Fire Service rests with the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi. The average number of fire/rescue calls attended by Delhi Fire Service is much more than any other metropolitan fire services in India.
The staff at Hari Nagar fire station was very cooperative and our kids enjoyed a lot. They sat in the fire truck, blew siren, visited the control room and had a lot of fun at this tender age.
As Indians and Delhiites we are grateful to these men for their selfless services.

Holi Celebration
Holi signifies the victory of good over evil and for many a festive day to meet others, play and laugh, forget and forgive, and repair broken relationships. It lasts for a night and a day, starting on the evening of the Purnima (Full Moon day) falling in the month of Phalguna. Holi celebrations start on the night before Holi with a Holika Dahan where people gather, perform religious rituals in front of the bonfire, and pray that their internal evil be destroyed the way Holika, the sister of the demon king Hiranyakashipu, was killed in the fire. The next morning is celebrated as Rangwali Holi – a free-for-all festival of colours, where people smear each other with colours and drench each other. Water guns and water-filled balloons are also used to play and colour each other. Anyone and everyone is fair game, friend or stranger, rich or poor, man or woman, children and elders. People visit family, friends and foes to throw coloured powders on each other, laugh and gossip, then share Holi delicacies, food and drinks.
Kids Shell’s Holi celebration is full of masti. We decorated the school with colourful balloons, water guns, many decorative cutouts and rangoli. Kids came in colourful clothes, along with delicious food and sweets. Teachers at Kids Shell narrated the Holi story and told kids how to play safe Holi. Teachers also came dressed as Radha-Krishan and played Holi with flower petals. They made colourful tattoos on kids’ hands and cheeks and did the scrap book activity, our beautiful kids also captured in the camera and play lots of games. Healthy & Junk Food Competition
Today at Kids Shell we organised ‘Healthy & Junk Food Competition’. We told our kids what the benefits of healthy food are and why we should avoid junk food. Healthy food gives us good health and energy. On the contrary junk food is with poor nutritional value and contains very high fat and sugar. Also junk food has preservatives, chemicals, artificial colours and flavours. Healthy food does not contain these substance. Junk food affects health and causes dangerous health situations, such as obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure. On the other hand, healthy food preserves and protects the body from the diseases.
Our Kids dressed up like ‘healthy & junk’ food for the competition. Kids dressed like Mango, Banana, Apple, Egg, Corn, Orange, Maggi and many more. We did a ‘healthy & junk food’ workshop and played many games and did activities.
We distribute 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize and all the participants get participation certificate along with lovely gifts. Our principal Mrs. Seema Mittal congratulate the winners. Kids learned a lot by this activity.

The pink color stands for unconditional love and understanding, and is associated with giving and receiving care. Since pink is a combination of red and white, both colors add a little to its characteristics. It gets the lust for action from the red color, and the white color gives it an opportunity to achieve success and insight. Passion and power from the color red, softened with the purity and openness of the white color completes pink color meaning. The deeper the pink color, the more passion and energy it radiates.
We celebrate 'Pink day' at Kids shell, to spread awareness among the kids about pink color. All students and teachers come in pink dress. Kids also enjoy scrap book activity like pasting cutout of pink candy.
