Through the ELE Apps course, LAU School of Engineering students partnered with the Amchit Municipality to design lighting and electrical systems for the Zakrit–Amchit heritage project. From site assessments to final presentations, they gained hands-on experience, collaborated with industry professionals, and developed engineering solutions with real community impact.

An Electrical Engineering course gives LAU engineering students hands-on experience through real-world electrical and lighting projects with municipalities and industry partners.

Team H.A.L.C. BionicTech, a team of LAU engineering students, took second place with a 3D-printed bionic hand designed for individuals with below-elbow amputations. The device weighs under 500 grams, responds to muscle contractions in under 200 milliseconds, and offers up to 10 hours of battery life, paired with a companion app for monitoring and customization.
Team JALES, another team of LAU engineering students, earned third place with a smart wearable shirt that tracks spinal curvature and shoulder alignment in real time, giving users posture feedback through a connected app.
Both teams competed against 13 teams from universities across Lebanon at iCORE 2026, hosted by Holy Spirit University of Kaslik.
