Did you know ⁉️ that in Levantine Arabic, whenever we use one of the two prepositions "before" - 2abel - قَبِلْ or "after - ba3ed - بَعِدْ " followed by a present tense verb, we usually insert relative pronoun "maa" ما " between them.

✨This structure helps us sound natural, and grammatically correct in speaking like natives!🗣️✨

📌 Example 1 :

بِشْرَبْ قَهْوةَ قَبِلْ ما بَلَّشْ شِغْلْ.
Beshrab 2ahwe 2abel maa ballesh sheghel;
I drink coffee before I start work.

📌 Example 2 :
بِدْرُس عَرَبِي بَعِدِ ما إِرْجَعْ عَالِبيْتْ.

bedros 3arabee ba3ed maa 2erja3 3al-bayt;
I study Arabic after I return home.

✨In Levantine (Urban Arabic) the expression "متل إجري- metel 2ejre) is quite blunt and informal.✨

• Literal meaning: "Like my leg"
• Actual meaning (what it really implies):
• It's used to say something is worthless, bad, stupid, or not respected at all.

🚨Similar in tone to English expressions like:
• "It's crap"
• "It's trash"
• "It sucks"

👉🏻It can also carry a slightly rude or dismissive tone depending on context, so it's usually used among friends or in casual speech—not in polite situations.

🚨Example:
هَيْدا الفيلم مِتِلْ إِجْري.
Haydaa al-feelm metel 2ejre.

Translation: This movie sucks!
